You’ve got this 😅🙏
Happy Sunday everyone!

Ah yes 😅
It’s remarkably freeing to recognise that despite the gatekeepers and every external factor of opposition that can be counted, ultimately your future lies in your hands.
We can play victim or we can play with the future.
Note: this doesn’t discount God’s role in your plans - it simply recognises that this is a partnership.
He does what he does, we do what we do.
Without you, not much is going to happen.
What do you think?

Think about it…
Why would God place dreams and desires on your heart if you had no ability to see them come into reality?
Imagine if the only way to be faithful with these desires was to burn out in the process?
It doesn’t make sense.
Here’s what is much more likely.
We are afraid.
So we defer that which we know we are called to.
I know that’s what I’ve been doing for so much of life.
Not any more.

No one else can tell the story of your life.
It’s part of what makes the human experience so wonderful. It’s unique.
Every story is full of heroes, villains, twists and tragedies. But this one is yours.
So whatever happened, happened. And whatever a person said or did is simply reality.
Sometimes we self-censor out of concern for offending or upsetting others. Especially in the church.
We’ve been conditioned to honour, love and be gracious. But sometimes these words are used to cover abuse or excuse ungodly behaviour.
Your story deserves to be told.
So tell it anyway.

Why emotional health matters 👇
The fruit of the spirit we least mention is self-control.
Many of us use the guise of the Holy Spirit to excuse our chaotic behaviour. In the contrary, to be led by the spirit is to be in full control of our actions and emotions.
Self-control is impossible unless we are aware of our self. Our state of joy, our pains, our energy levels etc.
Only then can we exert authority over our self and truly submit to Christ.
To be spiritually mature IS to be emotionally healthy. Not ignoring our feelings or ruled by them but in full control of self.

Why are Christians so tired?
The fruit of following Jesus is rest.
In contrast, following ourselves is a recipe for exhaustion and eventually burnout.
Salvation is not just about the single moment we give our lives to God.
It’s also about every moment that comes after as we work out our salvation.
So being a follower of Jesus or a Christian is not a fixed identity but a description of a continual journey.
Which means unfortunately a lot of followers of Jesus aren’t actually following him 🫠

How we build narratives👇
When trying to solve a problem or dealing with a difficult situation, ask yourself these questions.
1) What are the facts?
2) What is the story I am telling myself about these facts?
Most of the time we weave the two together and that comprises our reality.
But whilst the facts are undoubtedly fixed, the things we tell ourselves about them are not. And they tend to leads towards the flesh.
The facts might be that you just had an argument with someone close to you. Or that you’re sick. Or that you’re exhausted with church.
The story you tell could say you’re a failure. Or equally that you have been doing good work and you would benefit from some rest.
How you interpret that totally depends on the story you tell yourself.
Embrace reality but take control of the story.

When we did start believing the Christian life is supposed to feel crazy hard?
Yes life is full of difficulties and suffering. But even in the midst of it all, there is joy.
Many of us tell ourselves that the pain we experience in this life is as a result of following Jesus.
But in actual fact, I’ve discovered that much of our pain is in fact self-created - a fruit from following Jesus incorrectly.
Because it’s easier to tell ourselves a lie than to confront the truth.
Happiness is not only ok, it’s GOOD.

To forgive is not necessarily to forget.
Forgiveness does not automatically mean the restoration of a relationship or the healing of trust.
One of the great lies is that love requires us to re-enter dangerous or abusive situations. It doesn’t.
Forgive. Let go. But be wise around the boundaries for your future.
Because trust has a track record.

Saying YES to everything is saying NO to the things that truly matter.
The ability to say no is a sign of maturity, wisdom and self-awareness.
When we are being led by the Holy Spirit, we should seek his counsel and direction.
If he wants us to say yes then say yes. But equally close the door to every distraction or duty that you sense is not right.
Don’t let human beings persuade you to override your convictions and boundaries.
Becoming a people pleaser will ultimately cause you to displease God.

I worked out for the last 100 days. Here’s what happened 👉
Details if you’re interested:
Started on 5th January working out every week day (Monday - Friday).
All started with the 5am Club - a series we did at .church to start the year right. Mostly body weight exercises for a month that we streamed live to Instagram lol at 5am.
Then we joined the gym and shifted to 6am. There’s been a mixture of lifting weights, cardio, bodyweight exercises, swimming, badminton & football.
Had a few days off for holiday if I was away.
Shout out to who has been my workout partner ✌️
