Day 1 of Building a Profitable App Live

03/06/2026

Most people spend a million dollars or a year building something that no one wants!

They talk to a few hundred people and satisfy their ego during those conversations.

Thinking they might be the next Elon Musk or Sam Altman.

What's happening in reality is that they are getting false positives.

Asking normal people about their ideas to get validation.

Whereas even the most experienced VCs can't figure out the potential of an idea correctly all the time.

So what's the right way to manage customer conversations?

These are a few rules of thumb that you should follow:

1- Ignore all compliments and steer the conversation back to specific questions about their life.
2- Never ask for their opinion, or even better - never go into pitch mode in those early conversations.
3- Never ask questions about the future - whether you would use an app with X features?

Ask about their present, and their past. How recently they faced a similar problem? What steps did they perform to find the fix? Is that problem even worth solving? How much does it cost right now?

If you don't want to waste three years building something that no one wants...then master the art of asking right questions to your customers.

Here are the three tips to avoid false positives:

1- Never ask users about their opinions on something.
2- Never ask questions about the future.
3- Never share your idea in the initial conversation instead talk about the problems and life of your ideal user.

It's the right mindset and ex*****on strategy!
