We're extremely honoured to have been awarded a three-year grant from the Julia Rausing Trust at the start of 2026.
By providing purposeful activity, Fine Cell Work addresses some of the most pressing challenges within the prison system—mental ill-health, lack of opportunity, and high rates of reoffending. At an increasingly challenging time for criminal justice charities, this grant allows use deliver our in-cell work sustainably. We remain committed to reducing reoffending through successful rehabilitation.

Did you know that you can commission Fine Cell Work to bring your ideas to life?
This trio of giant embroidered panels designed by renowned glass designer Helen Whittaker MBE of Barley Studio were commissioned from Fine Cell Work for the Glaziers Hall’s River Room overlooking the River Thames. Each panel is 1.35 by 2.1 metres. This was the first commission done using Fine Cell Work’s embroidery machine, kindly donated by the Broderers Livery Company. The panels were rehung with support from Jenny Adin Christie from the Broderers Livery Company.
If you would like to commission Fine Cell Work, you can find out more via the link in our bio, or by emailing [email protected]

This Volunteers' Week, please donate to help provide our volunteers all the necessary training, safeguarding, and logistical support they need to teach in prisons.
Fine Cell Work would not be operating today in over 30 prisons today without its volunteers.
We get immense support from skilled volunteers who not only go into prison to teach our stitchers, but also support with design development and production, mentoring and guidance, sales and events, opening up their homes and communities for us, delivering talks, and spreading awareness. We're so grateful for all of their contributions 🙏.
