Green tea or black tea—which one gives you a bigger caffeine boost?

You might be surprised to learn that both teas come from the same plant, yet they differ in flavour, processing and caffeine content.

In general, black tea contains more caffeine than green tea, making it a popular choice for those who enjoy a stronger morning brew. Green tea, on the other hand, tends to offer a gentler lift and a lighter flavour profile.

But caffeine isn't the whole story. Brewing time, leaf quality and even the type of tea you choose can all influence what's in your cup.

At Dehing Tea, we believe the best tea is the one that suits your taste and your lifestyle.

"Chai Tea" or "Masala Chai"—are they actually the same thing?

You might be surprised to learn that the word chai simply means tea in Hindi. So when we say "Chai Tea", we're technically saying "Tea Tea".

The more traditional name is Masala Chai, which translates to spiced tea—a warming blend of black tea, milk and aromatic spices such as cardamom, ginger, cinnamon and cloves.

At Dehing Tea, our Masala Chai starts with premium Assam black tea, chosen for its rich flavour, natural maltiness and ability to stand up beautifully to spices.

Whether you call it Chai Tea or Masala Chai, one thing matters most: quality ingredients and a cup worth savouring.

The story behind our Masala Chai caddy design

Every detail on this caddy was created to reflect where our tea comes from.

The rich brown colour is inspired by the warmth of freshly brewed Masala Chai and the bold character of premium Assam tea. The intricate geometric pattern draws inspiration from the elegant weaving traditions of Assamese Paat silk, celebrating a craft that has been passed down through generations.

Just as every thread of Paat silk is woven with care, every batch of Dehing Masala Chai is handcrafted using premium Assam black tea and a carefully balanced blend of spices.

This caddy is more than packaging. It's a tribute to Assam's tea gardens, its artisans, and the traditions that make our region unique.

Before you throw away those tea leaves, read this.

Most quality loose-leaf teas can be brewed 2–3 times, with each infusion revealing something different.

Assam 2nd Flush Tea can reveal a smoother, softer character in the second brew.

Assam Green Tea often develops gentler, sweeter notes with a second infusion.

A simple tip:
➡️ Brew your first cup as usual.
➡️ Save the leaves.
➡️ Add fresh hot water and steep a little longer for your second cup.

The flavour won't be exactly the same—and that's part of the experience.

Have you ever tried a second brew? Which did you prefer: the first cup or the second?

Walk down the tea aisle in a supermarket and you'll find countless blends, breakfast teas, and flavoured infusions.

Yet among tea enthusiasts, one term appears again and again: Single Estate Tea

But what does it actually mean?

At Dehing Tea, our single estate teas come from one garden in Assam, allowing you to experience the distinctive flavour, heritage, and craftsmanship of that place in every cup.

Unlike many commercial teas that blend leaves from multiple gardens, single estate tea reflects the unique character of a single tea-growing region—its soil, climate, harvest, and traditions.

Why does that matter?

✨ Greater traceability
✨ Distinctive flavour
✨ Seasonal character
✨ A closer connection to the people and place behind your tea

Every harvest tells a story, and every cup offers a taste of where it came from.

That's the beauty of single estate tea.

Have you tried a single estate tea before?

Sun, sand and a cup of Assam’s finest ☀️

Second flush Assam black tea just hits differently—rich, malty, full-bodied, with that deep amber colour and smooth finish. Ours is harvested between May and June from our family gardens in Pengeri, Assam, and processed right there, so it keeps all its character.

It’s the kind of tea that works however you like it—plain or with a splash of milk. For me, today it’s by the sea, watching a sandcastle slowly take shape.

A quiet cup, a proud tradition.
Today we celebrate National Tea Day — where British tea culture meets the rich, hand‑picked heritage of Assam.

Here’s to the perfect brew.
