It’s Learning Disability Week and we’re joining forces with individuals and organisations from across the globe to ensure people with a learning disability are seen, heard, and valued.

The LOCSU Easy Eye Care Pathway for People with Learning Disabilities and/or autism uses the skills of primary care optometrists and dispensing opticians and aims to improve local access to eye care by delivering necessary adjustments.

LOCSU have produced a trio of case studies describing community-based optometry delivered glaucoma monitoring pathways across three different LOCs.

The case studies detail services in Ashton, Leigh and Wigan (ALW), Norfolk and Waveney, and Newcastle (Northumberland, Tyne and Wear (NTW)), highlighting the workforce models in place.

A joint sector webinar will take place on 30 June, bringing together representatives from the College of Optometrists, LOCSU, ABDO, AOP and FODO to explore how primary care optometry can play a fuller role across the glaucoma pathway.
