Dear Customer,

We alerting you to the impending above storm due to hit the UK overnight tonight into 6am in the morning.

The Met office have issued a rare RED warning notice over some parts of the country and YELLOW alerts over most of the UK.

It’s expected to be a life threatening storm, with gusts of 90 miles per hour, and Openreach are expecting wide spread damage to telephone and broadband line network as the storm moves across the country.

It’s expected that a large amount of trees will come down as well as other widespread damage to occur. With the expected damage this may mean you may lose telephone or broadband connection in your area due to the storm.

Should you experience loss of telephone or broadband, try and notify us immediately, so we can notify Openreach of your loss so they can try to dispatch engineers to the area to get connections back on.

As this is expected to hit the whole of the UK, damage could happen anywhere, and all 100% of engineers have been put on standby. Depending on the amount of damage many thousands of connections MAY be affected.

If you do experience problems due to the storm, please bear in mind that Openreach don’t have an endless supply of engineers, so there may be a delay in repairing lines or installations, whilst they deal with repairing damaged or downed lines, and making sure emergency equipment is still maintained.

Obviously we won’t know what damaged has occurred until the storm is over, so please let us know if your affected, but be patient as it may take some time before repairs are complete.

Advice from the Met Office is

1. DO NOT drive unless it’s an emergency

2. Do Not venture outside unless necessary

3. Ensure anything like tables, chairs outside are brought inside

4. Stay away from windows in case of flying debris

5. Above all keep yourself safe.

Direct Connect Telecom are issuing this notice due to the severity of the impending storm, and to notify to our customers action they should take if affected.
