Who Doesn’t Love Cake?!

"I’m really excited to be taking on this new role. I love cooking and feeding others, but will happily leave the baking to The Bear Bakers. The community meal is so important and I am dedicated to helping facilitate a space where people can come, sit down and receive a hot meal. My heart is to continue to provide a warm, welcoming environment where people feel part of a community; a place to build relationships, feel connected and belong. I’m really looking forward to sustaining, honouring and building upon the amazing legacy of the last 21 years of us providing a community meal."

*Thanks to London Catalyst for providing three years of funding for our community meals. Our Sunday evening community meal has been running for 21 years on volunteers. We will continue to run with the help and dedication of so many amazing volunteers but will have Mel overseeing the operations. WELCOME MEL!

Bear Kitchen is complete! Well nearly...In order for our kitchen to run we are in need of a number of kitchen items varying from £9-£114, we have set up a Wishlist, if you feel able please consider purchasing an item(s) from the list (linked below).

-Please organise delivery to your home address, not to The Bear Church we will be holding a blessing for the kitchen on Mothering Sunday on Sunday 15th March to bring the items, at The Bear Church (Frankham Street, London, SE8 4RN) at 10am.

Our vision is to build a home in the heart of Deptford, we still continue to build this vision even when we are out of the building but we are so excited to continue this work in our new space.

We are so excited for what this space will become, a community kitchen for 'Cooking with English', church activities, community events and so much more!

We had a top meeting today at Ignition Brewery today to talk about a potential 3year collaboration. Not often you walk away from a planning meeting with a beer in hand. More to come soon ... but for now find out how they employ and train people with learning disabilities to brew and serve their beer.
