New Year's Eve will be our last night.....! From our humble beginnings as a vision that rose from the rubble of an abandoned, fly tipped demolition site during covid, Varanda has grown and consistently evolved throughout the challenges. We have an incredible and unique team team behind us, that have put so much create, love and fun into VARANDA.

When the sun was shining - Wow! it was one of the best venues in London.

Regretfully the cost of consistent winterproofing, maintaining, stocking, staffing and keeping up with ever rising costs of this temporary venue has meant we would need to hike prices or make too many compromises to move forwards into 2023. Coupled with the uncertainty around the development of the site and the innate problems with the site - considerable investment would be required to fix the numerous building issues..... We have decided to close our doors and have a last big South London kneeeeeezup to say fond farewell.

VARANDA was always about fun and giving something different, vibrant and exciting to our community

Big Love to all the team that built us, that continuously kept us operating throughout bad weather, floods and high winds. The awesome DJ's and Artists who graced us, all those enduring staff maintaining levels of excellence that kept us full of joy, tacos and cocktails! All those that came and supported us - Thank you # # We have some amazing memories to take with us

After being closed for almost 2 weeks with some essential maintenance, with a new incredible sound system and dj booth installed, new menu, and a much warmer covered area… Outside is the inside 😉

Charles Vaughan is an energetic DJ, producer, broadcaster and writer who blends a wild array of
music. From Loft inspired disco; to heavenly soulful house grooves; to nu-wave pulsating jazz; all

the way up to bass bin jacking goodness.

As a DJ, Charles has toured with Worldwide FM mainstay Tina Edwards, including a Boiler
Room debut supporting esteemed selector Colleen ‘Cosmo’ Murphy. Whether alongside the
likes of Esa or Craig Charles, whether at Brixton Jamm or Colour Factory, those lucky enough
to have seen Charles Vaughan play will know the energy, eclecticism and technical skill.
His productions are no different and are widely admired. His lushous 2022 EP ‘Got To Keep On
The Move’ was DJ Harvey’s choice cut for closing Gala 2022 and has seen support from the likes
of Danny Krivit, Francois K & Laurent Garnier. But Charles is no stranger to defying genre
boundaries; his introspective 2021 EP ‘reflection, exhale’ saw premieres from Mixmag & Inverted
Audio, alongside radio support from Charlie Bones on NTS. He’s released everything from
a Brazilian edit alongside Aroop Roy, to experimental electro-jazz reworkings for Byrd Out
Recordings, to pumping Gazzz696 approved disco house on The Disco Express and more.
A truly versatile selector with a passion for eclecticism and a deep knowledge of his craft, Charles’
extensive experience centres him as a master of grooves. His expansive sets broadcast new and
familiar sounds to the dancefloor with infectious energy, no matter what the style.
