Meet Dr. Jess Wade π‘β¨
Dr. Jess Wade is a physicist and materials scientist whose groundbreaking research focuses on polymer-based LEDs and next-generation flexible electronics. Her work aims to create devices with extraordinary functionalities, such as detecting disease biomarkers, converting solar energy into electricity, and efficiently emitting light in specific colours. π
Dr. Wade is a Royal Society University Research Fellow and Lecturer in Functional Materials at , where she also gained her Ph.D. ππ¬
Beyond her research, Dr. Wade is a passionate advocate for diversity in science and outreach. Since 2018, she has written over 500 Wikipedia biographies to spotlight women and scientists of colour, describing it as her way to βdisrupt academia.β Her commitment to inclusion and outreach has inspired countless others to take action in amplifying underrepresented voices in STEM. π
Driven by curiosity and a commitment to equity, Dr. Wade exemplifies how innovation and advocacy can go hand in hand to create a brighter, more inclusive future in science! π

Meet Dr. Elizabeth Nance π§ π¬
Dr. Nance is a pioneering interdisciplinary researcher at the crossroads of engineering, neuroscience, and translational medicine, focused on developing innovative therapies for brain disorders. Her work centers on engineering nanoparticles that can precisely target diseased brain tissue, delivering sustained therapeutic effects. π§ͺ
Dr. Nance earned her B.S. in Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering from North Carolina State University and completed her Ph.D. in the same field at Johns Hopkins University. π
Her systems-level approach to brain health aims to uncover new pathways for treating complex neurological diseases, pushing the boundaries of neuroscience and engineering. π
