Fab co-working day today with .lifeafter

I do love a day of chat, idea swapping and general putting the world to rights. Lots of ideas to implement next week and stickers for doing the things 🤭

Today is World Autism day and this is my youngest who got his Autism diagnosis last week after 5 years of waiting. 

His reaction to being diagnosed was relief. Relief that he had a reason for being and feeling they way he does. 

But it's more than that. 

He has been so much happier since. He is lazer focused on getting good grades in his GCSEs next year, and then finding an apprenticeship on the railway. It's the one way he fits into the ASD trope - he is a rail nerd (his words not mine!)

If you met him, you wouldn't assume he is autistic, he is chatty, seems confident and capable.. it's behind the mask his autism shows up as perfectionism, anxiety and over thinking. He has the tools to help manage this, and make them skills.

Being on this journey with him has been eye opening.  Learning to parent him carefully so he feels supported was priority, but also discovering the things he masks, are the things I mask too, was humbling.

So big up to all creatively, differently wired brains today. If we were all the same, wouldn't life be dull?

Sarah here. I have been absent from socials recently, mainly because my brain has just been flipping between stuck/over thinking and a bag of caffienated squirrels, with all of the ideas. 

It can be exhausting being a business owner, you never really switch off, its always there in the background and sometimes the brain weasels win and have you doubting yourself.

Luckily on International Women's Day, Rachael and I are able to reflect on the amazing women that have given to us. The women we work for, work with and who support us. Each one has left an impression on us, whether its time spent with us, words said to us or knowledge shared willingly.

The theme this year is 'Give to gain' and underlines the importance of giving opportunity, support and collaboration to lift women and aid gender equality.

As the International Women's Day website says 'when women rise, we all thrive.'

A lovely uploftong day today co-working with the circle 2 gang. It was so lovely talking through sticking points, fears and whats holding us back, and focus on business goals for this year.
