St Joseph's Orphanage was built on Mount Street, Preston, in 1872 for Roman Catholic girls. In 1877, the St Joseph's Institute for Sick Poor, also known as the Mount Street Hospital, was added to the site. The hospital closed in 1982, and then operated as care home from the mid-1980s until 2003,

Originally built in 1923 as a garage and car showroom, it was converted into a luxury cinema in 1938 before its final days used as a
Grand Cinema witch last operated as the Stanley Grand Casino, and from 2007 became the Mint Casino, but this was closed by May 2016 and the building is boarded up in early-2017. It is a Grade II listed building.
If only they had saved it before it was too late😢..
