The GT6 MkII combined one of Triumph's best engines with one of its most distinctive shapes.
Introduced in 1968, the Mk2 arrived with a revised rear suspension setup designed to tame some of the handling quirks that had earned the original GT6 a reputation. Early cars could be a bit lively if you lifted off mid-corner. The MkII wasn't perfect, but it was noticeably more predictable and all the better for it.
Visually, it is arguably the most distinctive GT6 of the lot. The new front end, recessed grille, and cleaner lines gave the car a more mature look without losing the compact proportions that made it feel so different from larger British sports cars of the period.
Of course, the real appeal was under the bonnet. Triumph's 2.0-litre straight-six gave the GT6 a character that few rivals could match. Smooth, eager, and surprisingly vocal once the revs climbed. Many owners will tell you the sound alone is reason enough to own one.
What makes the Mk2 interesting today is that it sits in the middle of the GT6 story. Not as raw as the early cars, not as refined as the later MkIII. Just a well-balanced version of a car that never really had a direct competitor.
A Spitfire at first glance. Something altogether different once you drive it.

Brand of the Week: LOF Clutches
A clutch is one of those parts you never think about until it lets you down.
LOF Clutches built their reputation by solving some of the weaknesses found in standard Land Rover clutch kits. Their ROADspec range uses premium woven friction materials and uprated components designed to cope with more torque, more heat, and the sort of use these vehicles actually see.
Whether your Defender spends its life towing, green laning, or simply covering miles on the road, LOF's focus is simple: build it stronger, so you only have to do the job once.

This 1978 Triumph Spitfire 1500 stopped by Moss Rimmer recently while its owner picked up a few parts.
He hasn't owned it long, but every job so far has been done himself - exactly the sort of hands-on ownership these cars seem to encourage.
There's plenty to like about the car, but our favourite detail might be the tiny spoiler perched on the boot lid. Does it generate meaningful downforce? Almost certainly not. Does it tell you everything you need to know about the owner? Absolutely.
Sometimes it's the little details that make a classic memorable.

The Austin Healey 100-4 was the car that started it all.
First revealed in 1952, the 100-4 combined sleek styling with genuine performance, helping establish Austin Healey as one of the defining names in British sports cars. Designed by Donald Healey and built in partnership with Austin, it delivered exactly what post-war enthusiasts wanted: speed, simplicity, and open-top driving at its best.
Power came from a 2.6 litre four-cylinder engine, giving the car its “100” name thanks to its ability to reach 100mph, an impressive figure for the time. Lightweight, low-slung, and unmistakably purposeful, the 100-4 quickly earned a reputation both on the road and in motorsport.
What made the car special was its balance. It had the raw character of a true sports car, but enough refinement to make long-distance touring just as enjoyable.
Today, the Austin Healey 100-4 remains one of the most recognisable British classics ever built. Elegant, mechanical, and full of personality.
MossRimmer continues to support these cars with a wide range of parts to help keep them on the road for years to come.

Some cars are inherited long before the keys ever change hands.
The tools passed across a workbench. The stories told in the garage. The first time sitting in the passenger seat of a car that would eventually become part of your own story too.
For many of us, classic cars are more than machines. They are memories shared between generations.
This Father’s Day, whether it is a practical gift for the garage, something for the workshop wall, or a small reminder of the car he loves most, our gift guide is packed with ideas for the dads who passed down the passion.
