A spring picnic at Hyde Park where students from all over the world came together🌍

Sadikshya from Nepal, Betty from Taiwan, Yan Shen from China, Jia Xin from Malaysia and Lati from Uzbekistan — each bringing a little piece of home with them💛

Only a short walk from campus, Woodhouse Moor, the green heart of Hyde Park, comes to life in spring — where sunny afternoons turn into picnic blankets on the grass, giving you the perfect escape from studying and a chance to enjoy quality time with friends surrounded by nature🌿

If you’re thinking about studying in Leeds… this could be you✨

🌿 A gentle spring day in my life as an international student ☀️🌱

The days are finally longer, the campus is painted in fresh greens, and it’s no longer too cold to step out comfortably. Exam season is in full swing and the pressure is real, but I’ve been reminding myself to create balance. Some of my favourite moments lately are taking my books outside to study under the trees, enjoying sunny picnic lunches, evening badminton sessions and walking home under still-bright skies even at 9pm.

These small, mindful moments surrounded by nature and doing things I love have become my favourite way to recharge and stay grounded. Studying abroad has taught me that it’s not just about getting through the hard parts, but learning to enjoy the beautiful ones too. These soft spring days are what I’ll remember most 💛

There’s a side of the university you don’t always see on open days and campus tours.

Hidden green spaces. Wildlife woven into everyday student life. Quiet corners designed to help you slow down between lectures. Even buildings that encourage you to notice the nature around you🌿

The new Campus Greenery Trail is part of how the University of Leeds is promoting biodiversity and creating a campus that feels more connected to nature💖

Sometimes the best way to experience a university isn’t by rushing through it, but by taking the time to wander through it🍃

Balancing university and a part-time job isn’t always easy, but it’s more realistic than you think.
As an international student, Amelia works 10-15 hours a week alongside her studies. It doesn’t cover all her expenses, but it helps with everyday costs like groceries, transport, and a bit of social life.
If you’re planning to study in Leeds and wondering whether you can work part-time, Amelia says the answer is yes… just not perfectly, and that’s okay.
If you want to read more about how Amelia found and applied for her job, her time management and balancing work, study and social life, she has shared everything in her latest blog.
