A reformed building safety regulatory system: government response to the Building a Safer Future consultation.

Government confirms the biggest changes to building safety in a generation. New measures announced include mandatory sprinkler systems and consistent wayfinding signage in all new high-rise blocks of flats over 11 metres tall.

Site Inspections:
As a result of the current restrictions on non-essential travel, we are not able to carry out physical inspections of building works in progress.

However if you feel the work you are doing is essential, and you are continuing to build, you still need to make a request for a site inspection in the usual way by calling us on 0113 3786006.

One of our surveyors will then contact you to carry out a virtual inspection, by conversation, photo or video.

It is important that you continue to advise us of your building works to avoid any difficulties with issuing a Completion Certificate when work has been completed.

Building Regulation Applications:
Our Building Regulation Application service is continuing normally.

We can currently only accept applications electronically, so please send them as usual to [email protected]

Dangerous Structures:
We will still respond to all reports of Dangerous Structures.

Reports will be risk assessed, and those that pose a significant risk to public safety, such as car crashes into buildings and buildings damaged by fire or explosion will be visited immediately.

All other reports will be attended to when it is safe to do so.
