Welcome to the Stand Magazine page! This is an exciting innovation in collaboration with Colleagues in Chinese Studies at Leeds.
Stand has been a fixture on the British and world literary scene since 1952, when the first issue appeared in London. It moved to Leeds in 1960, then to Newcastle, and it is now edited from the School of English at the University of Leeds in collaboration with Virginia Commonwealth University in the USA. In 2017 we are dedicating a whole issue to recent writing from China including translations of
Join us from 6pm to 8pm this Saturday evening in the School of English at the University of Leeds for launch of Stand 17.4 and a tribute to Elaine Glover with readings by various poets.
It’s been quite a year for Stand. We are looking forward to what 2020 has in store and want to thank you all for your continued support!
