And so, to the end of a fantastic 6month period for me as both BasementArtsProject and as an artist working with this group of students from University Centre Leeds BA (hons) Art.

This exhibition marks the culmination of their time as undergraduates before they move onto the next stage of their lives as artists.

To all involved I wish you the very best.

Last, but by no means least, is a selection of photographs by Lane Shipsey who has been documenting elements of South Leeds for an exhibition looking at ideas of future from the perspective of the past.

Come and join BasementArtsProject as we present ‘More Than Water’ by the Ad Hoch Film Collective as part of Situation Leeds. This screening will be happening out of doors underneath the canopy of tree branches on ‘The Corner’ just as the dark of evening descends (9:30pm)

A film about nature out in nature itself

As part of Situation Leeds BasementArtsProject is also presenting ’The Listening City’ a project in which he seeks to ask the question ‘how can the city listen to us?”

Ears have made their way into the very fabric of ‘The Corner’ Pocket Sculpture Park and we encourage you to come and seek them out. Post some photos when you find them.

Originally staged in 2005, Situation Leeds created a city-wide platform for artists to test ideas, occupy spaces and connect outside traditional structures, and its return in 2026 builds on that legacy while responding to the realities of the present moment.

Work will take place across arts venues, artist-led spaces and everyday locations, reflecting a commitment to art beyond traditional thresholds. Exhibitions, performances, workshops, screenings and informal gatherings

Together with marginalised groups frequently targeted by misinformation, the project creates and exhibits an installation that turns complex digital debates into tangible experiences. Local residents will be invited to take part in facilitated events, sharing their perspectives and contributing to analysis. Through collaboration, art becomes a space for dialogue, resilience, and community voice.

And so to the end of our first exhibition of 2026. Thank you to Ros, Lucy, Lily & Iona… it’s been a blast! Tensile Strength put a spotlight, several very literally, on the skills of these women in metalwork.
