CHANGE a leading provider of Easy Read information
Empowering individuals with learning disabilities by ensuring they have access to high quality, accessible information.

Something that CHANGE has prided itself on is having input of people with lived experience into its work. Over the years, this has involved having staff and volunteers with learning disabilities and / or autism working on projects, quality-checking our Easy Read resources and delivering training.
Without having people with lived experience on board, CHANGE would not have kept going for more than 30 years. We thank everyone who worked for us and made it so special.

CHANGE have always been committed to promoting the human rights of disabled people. Part of that has been done in project work, linking with organisations such as the British Institute of Human Rights, Learning Disability England and Achieve Together.
We have done this through pushing for accessible information, talking about the issues that affect people with learning disabilities and helping to tell their stories.

Our Easy Read resources weren’t just made for people with learning disabilities. Many with neurodivergent conditions also find them more accessible.
We spoke to a colleague at The Advonet Group who shared her experience of using Easy Read and why it helps to break down complicated info and break down barriers.

CHANGE worked on a lot of projects over the past 30 years. One of the more recent ones was with University of Warwick. It was about making accessible resources to explain the ReSPECT process.
In an interview, we asked Anne-Marie from the University about the importance of having Easy Read information and input of people with lived experience at every stage.

One of the many things CHANGE did was create Easy Read video guides. They helped to explain difficult topics in a simple, engaging way.
Over the years, we made videos about sexuality, pronouns and health.

We’ve gone through all the feedback we received and have created a set of FAQs which we hope will give all our current and former clients information they need. To read them, please click on the link to our website in the comments below.
The FAQ page will be regularly updated as more details become available and more questions are received. Please post any further questions in comments or email [email protected]

We are deeply sorry to announce that Advonet will close CHANGE’s Easy Read services at the end of next month.
We want to thank all our current and former project partners, commissions clients, image bank and shop customers, colleagues and volunteers for working with CHANGE.
CHANGE is hugely proud that for almost 30 years we have worked with so many people and organisations to create genuinely accessible information, empowering adults with learning disabilities to access their rights and live better lives.
Advonet remains committed to our core principles, including co-delivery, and will continue this through its Asking You service.
Please click the link in comments to learn more about the decision and what it means for partners and clients of CHANGE.
