Whilton Mill Round 1 Race Report

Absolutely amazing weekend at Whilton Mill for Round 1 of the GX-UK Junior Championship.

Friday

Had a good test day getting to grips with the track and kart and testing different setups throughout the day.

Saturday

Practices: It was a cold morning so we spent a couple of sessions just getting the kart warm.

Heat 1: P21-15 with fastest lap of the race, wasn’t able to make many places up in this race due to there being a massive crash at the start and just narrowly avoiding it.

Sunday:

Warmup: Throttle got stuck coming out of the pit lane and almost went into the barriers so i only got one lap out of three.

Heat 2: P26-P7, had a great race and got my head down as I knew every overtake counted and would gain me a higher position in the final.

Heat 3: P32-P12, this was an amazing race as I knew if I just avoided getting stuck in big packs and overtook one by one that I would get through the field quicker and that worked out well.

Final: Great race with lots of action going backwards and forwards all the time so overall in the end I went from P12-P10 and top novice of the weekend which I was very happy with.
