And our Division 4 team hosted Sheffield, having visited them last week. We flipped those results to go even with them for the year! (We didn’t post that fixture ~17/05, but it was 2-13 L, 8-10 L.)

In game one, we took the lead in the 1st inning and kept chugging along with excellent pitching to keep the blades at bay.
Justin dominated with 3 scoreless innings, 8 K’s, and just 1 ER.

In game 2, Sheffield came out swinging as our bats cooled off after game 1. A stunning 10 run walk-off final inning, with 5 of those coming on 2 outs, saw us clinch it in the dying moments.
Milad showed strong defence at shortstop, with an important double play in the 2nd to keep Sheffield scoreless. He then got the Win with some quality relief pitching in the 4th, holding the opposition to only grounders and getting his first K.

An injury-riddled week had the Locos 1 battling through a tough double header.

Captain Conrado cannoned a triple into right field to get us our lone point in game 1, with honourable mentions to David, Dario, and Andy for their defensive work.

Game 2 was a higher scoring affair.
David gets our MVP for catching the whole game injured, with a pair of RBIs to soften the blow.

On to better days!

Sunday saw a hard fought battle against Bootle. To be accurate to history the scousers snuck into Wharfemeadows in a big horse-shaped van, and grabbed a couple of extra runs while our battery wasn’t looking.

(If you don’t know your Greek mythology, look up ‘Trojan Horse’; they didn’t actually steal anything from the Locos, although we didn’t have any metal detectors so maybe they wielded swords without us knowing…)

The Locos got ahead in game 1, but were unable to capitalise through the middle innings.
Our MVP goes to Justin for a competitive 6 innings.

Game 2 played out in reverse, with the Trojans getting ahead before Leeds started a comeback. Unfortunately it ended up being too little too late.
Gary Cooper was our standout performer with a 3 for 3 game and a walk!
Plus a big shoutout for Peter Wing for making a miraculous over-the-shoulder barehanded catch on his first weekend in Division 3.

Let’s go Locos!
