🖤❤️ June Canal Run – What a Turnout! ❤️🖤

A little late posting this one… but when the month starts with a wall of Striders ready to smash a 5K, it absolutely deserves its moment.

Just look at this crew — smiles, sunshine, and that unmistakable red‑and‑black energy lined up along the towpath. A fabulous club turnout and the perfect way to kick off June’s running vibes.

Whether chasing PBs, pacing a friend, or just soaking up the team spirit, every single Strider showed up and made it magic.

🖤❤️ SHOUT OUT TO GEMMA! ❤️🖤

Gemma took on the mighty Windermere Marathon and absolutely smashed it.

She described it as tough but brilliant - which, let’s be honest, is exactly the kind of challenge she thrives on.

This is a course she loves, one she returned to this year with that trademark Strider determination … and she’s already eyeing up 2027 for another go.

When the views are that spectacular, who could blame her?

Huge well done, Gemma.

Your love for this marathon, your determination, and your joy for the journey make you a standout Strider.

Massive shout to Julie, who not only organised the Leeds Marathon bus but also transformed it into a fully functioning mobile hospitality suite.

Snacks? Sorted.
Morale? Sky‑high.
Chaos? Managed.
Striders? Behaved… ish.

And while she was busy being our Bus Hostess Supreme, she’s also been quietly coaxing her running mojo back out of hiding.
It’s peeking round the corner now.
It’s happening.
We love to see it.

Julie - you’re a star, a snack queen, and a comeback story in progress. ❤️🖤❤️

A huge Striders shout out to Laura, whose brilliant performance at the Leeds Half Marathon still deserves centre stage. Even though the race was a little while ago, her achievement continues to shine as a perfect example of what dedication and smart training can deliver.

Laura has been going from strength to strength — consistently putting in the miles, mixing up her sessions, and showing how variety really does make a difference. Alongside her running, she’s been grafting at Overpower, the high‑intensity training group that’s helped her build strength, resilience, and that extra gear she unleashed on race day.

All that hard work came together as she powered her way to a fantastic personal best. She went out there and delivered something absolutely outstanding.

We’re all incredibly proud of you, Laura. ❤️🖤

🖤❤️ SHOUT OUT TO SJ! ❤️🖤

Some runners have a moment… SJ is having a whole season.

Fresh off a brilliant Leeds Half Marathon PB - and just look at that photo of her race - she’s racing with confidence, training with purpose, and proving exactly what consistency can achieve.

Every race she lines up for, she delivers.
Every challenge she takes on, she rises to.
Every week, she’s showing us what happens when hard work meets belief.

It’s been an absolutely fantastic year of running for her so far - and the best part is, she’s only just getting started.

Go on, SJ. Keep shining. Keep smashing it.

🖤❤️ SHOUT OUT TO SARAH - OUR FLAG‑FLYING, ALWAYS‑SHOWING‑UP SUPERSTAR ❤️🖤

Even while injured and unable to run, Sarah continues to be one of the most committed, dependable and uplifting forces in our club. She proves every single week that being a Strider isn’t just about running - it’s about heart, presence and showing up for others in every way that counts.

This week alone she has:
• Led our walk group with her trademark warmth and encouragement
• Stepped up in her roles as vice captain and committee member
• Organised our guest speaker
• Coordinated our entire parkrun takeover
• Turned up to Captain Kirsty’s strength session to support the team

And on top of all that, she is one of our biggest supporters - regularly spotted in full Striders kit, proudly waving a club flag (or two!), cheering louder than anyone and lifting the whole squad with her energy.

All of this while juggling a full‑on job and a busy family life. It’s honestly incredible.

Injury might have paused her running, but it hasn’t slowed her impact one bit.

Sarah, we see you. We appreciate you. And we’re so grateful for everything you bring to this club.

🖤❤️ FRIDAY NIGHT STRENGTH WITH CAPTAIN KIRSTY - STRIDERS, YOU ABSOLUTELY SMASHED IT ❤️🖤

What. A. Session.
Two photos tell the whole story - the standing‑tall, ready‑for‑anything squad, and the end‑of‑session collapse that proves every rep, every shuttle, every bead of sweat was earned.

The session was a spicy mix of strength blocks with weights broken up by run shuttles - the perfect combo of cardio chaos.

For some Striders it was their first ever strength session, but you’d never have known it. The effort, the form, the determination… absolutely brilliant across the board.

And of course, huge credit to Captain Kirsty, who somehow makes hard work feel fun, inclusive and totally achievable. She leads from the front, cheers from the middle, and supports from the back - all at once.

Here’s to stronger runners, stronger bodies, and stronger Strider spirit.
