Another large-scale commercial solar project underway.

This week we’re on site delivering a roof-mounted solar PV installation, working alongside other trades to keep the project moving safely and efficiently.

From crane lifts and logistics to installation planning and coordination, projects like this highlight the importance of preparation and teamwork before a single panel is energised.

⚡ Looking at upgrading my tester and wanted some opinions from other electricians… ⚡

I’m currently comparing the Kewtech KT-X and the Megger MFT-X1.

From what I can see:

🔹 Kewtech KT-X
• Good reputation for reliability
• Straightforward to use
• Solid for EICRs and day-to-day testing
• Usually comes in at a better price point
• Battery-powered

🔹 Megger MFT-X1
• Fast testing speeds
• Rechargeable battery (big plus for me)
• Modern interface and seems very user-friendly
• Good feedback from a lot of sparks
• Higher upfront cost

I do a mix of domestic, commercial and industrial work, so need something reliable, accurate and practical.

One thing that puts me off is constantly changing batteries, so the rechargeable setup on the Megger is definitely appealing.

Anyone used both?
Which would you recommend and why? Any issues with either?
