Today, the I in SWI stands for… Intergenerational.

One of the loveliest things about Largs SWI is the friendships that grow between women of all ages.

Different generations bring different experiences, ideas and skills — but when we get together, age really doesn’t matter. We learn from each other, encourage each other and, as you can see, have plenty of laughs along the way!

Because friendship isn’t about how old you are. It’s about the connections you make.

Where friendship has no age limit.

Interested? Come and join us.

And we’re still asking…

What does the I in SWI mean to you?

Today, the I in SWI stands for... Inclusive.
Every woman who joins us has her own story.
Some arrive knowing lots of people.
Some don't know a single person.
Some come to learn.
Some come to laugh.
Some come simply because they'd like to belong to something.
Whatever your reason, we hope you'll find exactly what these wonderful women have found—a place where everyone belongs.
💙 What does the I in SWI mean to you? We'd love to hear your thoughts.

We're collecting all your ideas about what the I in SWI means. We'll share them later in the campaign!

🌟 A familiar face! 🌟

If this photo looks familiar, it’s because the lady receiving the Margaret Whiteford Award for Outstanding Member of the Year is our very own Gill Faragher, who was honoured with this national award in 2025. 🎉 The award recognises members whose passion, commitment and dedication truly reflect the values of the Scottish Women’s Institutes.

We’re delighted to see Gill’s photograph being used by National SWI as they invite nominations for this year’s award.

Every Institute has members who go the extra mile—supporting others, sharing their skills, volunteering their time and helping their communities thrive. If someone in your Institute deserves recognition, why not consider putting their name forward?

Good luck to everyone nominated, and congratulations in advance to whoever follows in Gill’s footsteps as the next Margaret Whiteford Award winner! 💙💛

Project 1917 – Help Shape Our 110th Anniversary Celebrations | Scottish Women's Institutes (SWI) In 2027, the SWI will celebrate 110 years, and we’d love members to be part of planning how we mark this fantastic milestone. Join fellow members for a relaxed two-hour ideas session over a cup of tea. It’s a chance to chat, share your thoughts and help shape celebrations that reflect everything...
