Introduction to colour theory workshop

Join us for a relaxed, hands-on session exploring colour theory and mixing techniques.
You’ll sketch still life exercises to identify shapes, then create a painting using the 70/30 rule with three colours that resonate with you. Enjoy the workshop with a glass of Prosecco included. All materials provided.

This body of work presents a contemporary mythic practice centered on female presence. The artist moves beyond portraiture toward iconography, positioning women as seers, witnesses, and sovereigns rather than objects of the gaze.

The visual language is distilled to essentials. Paint is applied thinly, with visible brushwork and graphic black contours. Raw canvas is often left exposed, rejecting polish in favor of immediacy and material honesty. Color functions as code: ochre signals history and authority, teal invokes protection and depth, red marks life, violence, and wound.

Figures appear frontal, confronting the viewer with direct or defiantly closed eyes. They are rarely alone — doubled, paired, or accompanied by symbolic elements. Everyday objects — a book, fruit, a vessel — carry mythic weight, collapsing the boundary between the domestic and the archetypal.

These paintings function less as windows than as talismans. They do not ask to be admired. They demand to be contended with — asserting a cosmology in which female presence is authoritative, interior, and unapologetically complex.
