Springwater Academy

Good morning everyone,

With ongoing high temperatures, we're working hard on keeping things as cool as possible in our buildings.
We have lowered blinds and opened windows overnight and have a number of air conditioning units running from 7am this morning. Whilst more are on their way, we will also be adapting our school activities to ensure:

No vigorous physical activity for staff or students.

Ready supply of drinking water for all

An already relaxed dress and uniform codes
Please send wide brimmed hats and suncream, water etc.

Consideration of relocating classes to cooler areas of the school where possible.

Curtailing of heat-generating activities so far as possible, e.g. use of ovens.

Blinds and curtains closed during the day.

Access to water play, ice pops and other activity which supports cooling.

Time in shaded areas outdoors. Break times in the sun will be minimised to ensure time to regulate and enjoy being outdoors, without risk of sunburn or overheating.

If you have any specific concerns, please do contact your child's teacher of school office in the first instance.

Last week, Robins class visited The Deep aquarium in Hull and had a brilliant time!
From the shallow tropical lagoons to the darkest depths of the coldest oceans, the group were able to marvel at the incredible diversity of life beneath the waves - from sharks and rays, to penguins and sawfish.

Congratulations to our 6th Formers who have gained their Achievement of the Week certificates today, for lots of brilliant reasons!

On Friday the 19th of June we are holding a non-uniform day. We are asking for a donation towards our tombola at Starbeck Fest 😊 see poster below, thank you for your continued support 🥰

With a certain match taking place tonight, we have a host of activities happening across the Academy, from football themed music to designing tops, learning about flags and international foods to testing our sporting skills.

If Ash class's singing is true, England will be winning this year's World Cup!

Last week Rabbits, Squirrels and Otters class visited the sea at Saltburn Beach as part of their topic this term which is water. As you can see from the photos the young people enjoyed exploring the water in a hands on immersive way!

Today, we collectively say one big THANK YOU to our teaching team on this National Thank a Teacher Day!
On behalf of our children and young people, and the entire Springwater family, we extend our thanks to every member of the team - whatever each person's role here, we all work together with the same young people at the heart of everything we do.

On Monday, 109 went to visit Knaresborough Police Station and had a full tour of the station and an informative chat about the day-to-day roles of a police office and an opportunity to ask lots of questions, thank you to everyone at Knaresborough police station for a wonderful morning!
