For example, pictured below you will see an intermediate Posi-Joist Metal Web Floor being installed, with a 22mm Egger Protect Chipboard Flooring covering. This structural deck provides 42 Days of protection against water & moisture ingress on both sides of the board. If you’re comparing our quotations against some of our competitors, be sure to check the specifications of items like this.
Also to note, the beading of the D4 Glue remains in place until the roof structure goes on, this prevents water ingress penetrating the tongue and groove joints on the boards.

Ever wonder what an airtightness test on a new build looks like? Here’s a sneak peek into one of our latest airtightness tests in Cheltenham.
At MBC, our High-Performance System is guaranteed to achieve an air change rate of 3.0 AC/HR, while our Passive House System achieves 0.6 AC/HR. These levels of airtightness make every MBC project compatible with MVHR systems, should the client choose to install one, helping to deliver exceptional energy efficiency, indoor comfort, and overall building performance.
This project, which uses our High-Performance timber frame package, achieved a fantastic result of 1.15 AC/HR - significantly exceeding the guaranteed rate of 3.0 AC/HR.

Achieving certified Passive House standards often depends on the ability to adapt and refine a building’s fabric as the project develops. This is where the flexibility of our passive standard Twinwall system becomes invaluable.
Once the PHPP (Passive House Planning Package) calculations are completed, adjustments to the building envelope are sometimes required to ensure the project meets the demanding Passive House certification criteria. The PHPP is a comprehensive Excel-based energy modelling tool and is a mandatory component of the certification process.
It is used to accurately assess and optimise key performance factors including:
• Thermal bridge performance - designed to be eliminated or reduced to an absolute minimum
• Window and door efficiency - incorporating precise U-values and solar gain calculations
• Ventilation strategy - ensuring maximum MVHR (Mechanical Ventilation with Heat Recovery) efficiency
• Energy generation - including the integration of onsite renewable technologies such as solar PV
The adaptability of the MBC Twinwall system allows us to deliver a range of insulation performances tailored to specific PHPP requirements.
On this particular project, the final calculations required a 400mm Twinwall construction, achieving an exceptional U-value of 0.087 W/m²K (rounded to 0.09 W/m²K), helping the project successfully align with Passive House performance targets.
