Ganda's Ghost, 90 x 110cm, acrylic, pencil and sharpie on panel, £1850 - thanks to the New English Art Club has been selected for their annual exhibition at the Mall Galleries in London from
Thursday 11 June to Saturday 20 June, 5pm.

According to AI, this exhibition is "a major London art event held at Mall Galleries each summer" - so well worth stopping in if you can and want to...

Here's a bit about the painting:

"Ganda’s Ghost is an acrylic painting on panel where sharpie pen and graphite pencils were also used. The painting depicts a metaphysical world of an unspecified time and place where a Rhino, after Durer’s “Ganda”, is standing on a plane suspended in an unsaturated mauve with an elongated striped cuboid column running vertically through one of its geometric holes. On the same plane, there are stairs leading up to an arch through which one can pass. In the far space mountains rise up above the horizon line which is placed on the golden section to subliminally evoke questions around aesthetics. Tragically, Ganda drowned in the Mediterranean Sea in 1516."

I have just sent this commissioned piece off to Denmark: RUE DE PORTUGAL II, mixed media, 60 x 68cm, based on a sketch of a road leaving medieval French village St Benoit du Sault.
"Painting" this (collage, acrylics, ink on panel) was more about the relationship of shapes of colour at odds with perspectival spatial depth than the actual place.
