When it comes to health we have all been told the same thing over and over pretty much our whole lives. "To be healthy you just need a good diet and exercise program".
The past 50 years has proved that this approach just doesn't work. Despite
all the effort, we are still extremely unhealthy as a nation and getting worse.
Being a concept that is fairly new to most people, Smart Wellness can sometimes be misunderstood. This isn't about fad diets or hardcore exercise programs, but light movement each day to keep our bodies functioning optimally

Thinking isn't something you will find in diet and exercise books and very rarely is it linked to health. The truth is that everything we do starts with thinking, all of our actions towards wellness are products of our thoughts. Our thoughts are a reflection of what we surround ourselves with and how we perceive things.
Two people experiencing the same situation can react and be affected by it in different ways. The ability to relax in stressful or high pressure situations is a learned skill and crucial to boosting resilience, performance and wellness.
In Neuron we explore the different ways to hack these response systems and stay in control of stress and anxiety. This slows the ageing effect of cortisol, increases our overall happiness and allows clear and calm decision making

How you breath has a huge effect on your wellness and can be a powerful control switch, but most people don't use it properly.
Julia has been using teaching these techniques to clients and elite athletes for decades. Breathing also surprisingly plays a part in weight loss and management. This is a good example of how all 6 areas of the wellness wheel are interlinked, each section is just as important as the others.

The wellness wheel explained, part one…
Consuming well is a vital part of your wellness journey. This isn’t about dieting, only focusing on an array of foods to give your gut everything it needs to function optimally.
Research now shows that eating at least 30 different types of fruits, vegetables and other plants, each week lowers the risk of illness and helps extend healthy lifespan. So 4-5 per day is perfect but just make sure you are mixing it up!
Regularly consuming a high diversity of fruits and vegetables helps increase the diversity of gut bacteria types which is proven to slow ageing and prevent chronic diseases later in life.
This is just one aspect of the new way we see longevity and wellness. Pick up a copy of Neuron, comment below or visit us in store to find out more.

The past 50 years has proved that this approach just doesn't work. Despite
all the effort, we are still extremely unhealthy as a nation and getting worse.
The reason is that how you move and what you consume is only a part of the story. We focus too heavily on these two when they only need small adjustments paired with the other elements of Smart Wellness (Thinking, sleeping, breathing and maintaining).
Being a concept that is fairly new to most people, Smart Wellness can sometimes be misunderstood. This isn't about fad diets or exercise programs, just simple steps using the latest science to boost your gut health, energy levels, sleep, happiness and longevity.
Using this approach, scientists believe that we should be able to increase our HEALTHY life expectancies to 100 years and beyond!

It's important that we all start talking about our health and wellness. Implementing it is also different for everyone depending on your lifestyle. This is why i'm not writing a long description today explaining the points above in detail. If you want to change your health and wellness just comment below and let's discuss how!

Sleep is an essential part of your wellness journey. Small habit changes can make sure you wake up feeling rested and refreshed.
One of the most important parts of your day is actually the night. It's the time when your brain carries out necessary housekeeping and maintenance.
Lack of good quality sleep can cause all sorts of problems and lead to dementia in later years. It is an essential pillar of health and cannot be neglected if you wish for a long, healthy life.
To get better sleep you need to pay a lot of attention to light. Just stepping out into the garden when you first get up in the morning can help keep your internal master clock. This can also be achieved by popping your head out of the window. Approximately 16 hours after your eyes sense light in the morning your chemical clock should ensure that an 8-hour sleep period starts.
Another way to help sleep is to create an optimal sleep environment with less clutter and a cooler temperature. You can also use scented candles to signal to the brain that it is time to sleep.
Using your phone as an alarm can also disrupt sleep. The blue light from your phone disrupts sleep patterns as well as tempting you into social media apps that turn a 10pm bedtime into a 1am bedtime.

If you suffer from any of the above then 2023 may be the perfect time to take control of your wellness.
