If A is success in life, then A equal to X plus Y plus Z. Work is X; Y is play; and Z - bowl well! (adapted from A. Einstein)

Based on our recent work, we are looking for a post-doc! In this project, we want to decipher the function of Wnt signalling in synaptogenesis - first using induced pluripotent stem cell (iPSC)-derived cortical neurons - and then zebrafish larvae - to identify new aspects underlying the cellular pathology of Alzheimer's.

We are looking for a post-doc! Applications are invited for a neuronal cell biologist to work on a research project at the Living Systems Institute to decipher the function of Wnt signalling in synaptogenesis. This is an exciting opportunity to undertake functional studies of Wnt signalling in induced pluripotent stem cell (iPSC)-derived cortical neurons. This project will undertake a functional analysis of Wnt signalling to identify new aspects underlying the cellular pathology of Alzheimer's, focused on the synaptogenesis to better understand the molecular mechanisms of the disease.https://jobs.exeter.ac.uk/hrpr_webrecruitment/wrd/run/ETREC107GF.open?VACANCY_ID=571268VtVY&WVID=3817591jNg&LANG=USA

Research news - Research shows cytonemes distribute Wnt proteins in vertebrate tissue - University of Exeter 08/04/2021

Oooh... are we famous?

Research news - Research shows cytonemes distribute Wnt proteins in vertebrate tissue - University of Exeter A team of international researchers, including experts from the University of Exeter’s Living Systems Institute, has identified how signalling pathways of Wnt proteins - which orchestrate and control many cell developmental processes – operate on both molecular and cellular levels.

Hot off the press: Vangl2 promotes the formation of long cytonemes to enable distant Wnt/β-catenin signaling. We show that Vangl2 regulates the length of Wnt-bearing cytonemes in the zebrafish, the mouse intestinal crypt, and in human gastric cancer cells. Excellent collaboration with Kyle (LSI) and David (DUKE-NUS). Cytoneme rocks! https://www.nature.com/articles/s41467-021-22393-9

The EU has doubled the budget for the Erasmus+ program. 🤪. In addition, environmentally friendly travel will be rewarded in the future. Excellent move - unfortunately, we in the UK will not be able to take part. The excellent exchange students (e.g. Alex and Gloria from my lab) will be missed. 😢
