What actually shows up on a DBS certificate?
It's one of the questions we're asked most often.
The answer depends on the level of DBS check you've requested. A Basic, Standard and Enhanced DBS check all reveal different information, and understanding those differences is key to making informed recruitment decisions.
In our latest blog, we cover:
✔ What a DBS certificate is
✔ What information each level of check reveals
✔ How DBS filtering works
✔ Common questions employers ask about DBS certificates

The way employers carry out Right to Work checks is changing.
From 1 October 2026, proposed updates to the Right to Work scheme could expand employer responsibilities to include workers, individual subcontractors, and those engaged through online matching services.
To help you understand what's changing, we've teamed up with our sister company, TrustID, to break down the key updates and what they could mean for your organisation.
If you're reviewing your recruitment or onboarding processes ahead of October, now is the time to start preparing.

Since January 2026, eligible self-employed workers and personal employees can apply for their own Enhanced DBS checks through a registered Umbrella Body like uCheck.

🟡 Personal assistants and support workers paid through direct payments or personal health budgets
With uCheck, you can complete the process digitally, including secure online identity verification, making it quicker and easier to apply.

One question we get asked a lot is...
"How are uCheck's turnaround times often faster than the national average?"
A big part of it comes down to what happens before your application reaches the DBS.
Every application submitted to us is reviewed within one hour, and we're proud to have an average countersign time of less than 20 minutes.
We've also automated parts of our process, allowing applications to continue being processed outside of working hours and over the weekend.
It's completely optional for our customers, but it helps us return checks as quickly and efficiently as possible.
It's all part of helping employers keep recruitment moving.
