Our surveyors have been hard at work this week. We've also been experiencing a strange yellow thing in the Sky ☀️ Our surveyors could even take their coats off 😮🫨😱

Scotland tomorrow 🏴.
With an enormous amount of plant moving around a collapsed culvert, we’ve had to throw everything at this difficult project in Devon. To give the client every bit of data they need to fix this, we deployed an arsenal of equipment: crawler systems, drainage floats, 3D laser scanning, stream DP, EML, total stations, and GNSS. It’s a high-pressure, complex working area, but we’re ensuring that despite the chaos of the site, the information we deliver is clinical and precise. Doing what we do best!
Cornwall this week ☀️😎 we don't mind crossing the border when the weather is like this 😃😁

This Devon garden survey could have been mistaken for the jungle! Our team carried out this Topographic Survey last week 😁

Work is progressing nicely on this complicated heliport project, we have been here from the very beginning and will support all the workforce through to finish
This is hardly work when you're carrying out a survey at such a location! We've been lucky enough recently to carry out a survey of this salt marsh, a location that is vital for our wading bird population 🪶
If 2026 was a test of character, I think we just passed the test (when will it end).
Yesterday started with equipment troubles on-site in Torquay, only to be hit with the "dreaded news": our Stream DP had developed a fault way up in Elgin, Scotland.
In a small company, you don’t just "log a ticket" and wait. You move. To keep our project on track and maintain the standards our clients expect, I embarked on a bit of a marathon:
* Torquay → Home: Quick pack of clothes!
* Stoke-on-Trent: A massive shoutout to Shane Gwilt for sourcing a replacement radar at incredibly short notice.
* Clitheroe, Lancashire: A pitstop to see my school friend Alice and her husband James on her birthday (thanks for the bed and the birthday hospitality!).
* The Final Stretch: A 7-hour trek north this morning to reach the team in Scotland.
Let’s be honest: the start of this year has been relentless.
Between 4 van breakdowns, CCTV camera faults, a broken Trimble TSC7, and now the Stream DP issue, it would have been very easy to throw in the towel.
But we pride ourselves on delivering projects on time and to the highest standard, no matter the logistics. Challenges are just part of the job—giving up isn't.
We’re back on track, the antenna is on-site, and we’re ready to get to work. Scotland, let’s do this! 🏴

Topographic, Utility and Measured Building Survey being carried out last week in Sidmouth
10/02/2026
Post 3 of 3 - To wrap up the deliverables on the Devon project, we integrated 3D Laser Scanning to deliver a high-precision Measured Building Survey (MBS).
By merging the scan data with our primary Topographic Survey, we provided a dataset where the internal floor plans, elevations, and the external environment align with millimetric accuracy.
Topographic, Utility, MBS, and Drainage—delivered in a single, unified drawing. The client now has a wealth of data to support every design, planning, or renovation decision for years to come.
Eliminating the guesswork that comes from disparate datasets or unverified measurements.
This project perfectly demonstrates the Benchmark Surveys approach: streamlining site work into one visit and delivering a comprehensive, drawing package.

Post 2 of 3 - To ensure total accuracy across our recent Devon project, it all started with a robust Topographic Survey. By laying down these foundations first, we ensured that our 3D Laser Scanners and Utility Surveyors were operating within the exact same coordinate system.
We provided a full PAS128 written report, giving the client high-level confidence in the underground infrastructure. Because we worked from the same control points as the topo team this ensures accuracy with our data capture.
During the CCTV Drainage Survey, we identified several blockages that could have stalled the project. Ordinarily, this would mean pausing work to call in a third-party contractor.
However, thanks to our in-house jetting capabilities, we were able to:
Clear the blockages immediately.
Complete the survey without delay.
Provide the client with a clear, actionable report the first time around.
No extra contractors, no extra lead times.
