1. SiMPTI Work experience programme for 15-19 year olds:

We are pleased to announce that our work experience programme will be reopening in Summer 2022 in the form of a supercharged bespoke training programme offering first hand advice and experience from professionals within the music industry. SiMPTI is a work-based training programme, designed and delivered by social enterprise Sound Gallery CIC. SiMPTI provides a unique, ‘behind the scenes’ insight into a creative team at work and is ideal for those who are keen to pursue a career in the music industry and seek to gain real life experiences in a professional recording studio. Suitable for: GCSE, A-Level and BTech students who wish to undertake their work experience in a recording studio. Weeks: 11-15 July 2022 & 18-22 July 2022

Sound Gallery Studios is the ideal place for young people to experience and engage with real life situations and try out a range of tasks before they embark on a career path within the music industry. Participants also get:
- individual assessment and careers advice with one of our staff members
- a SiMPTI booklet with useful links and contacts
- a SiMPTI certificate signed by the studio manager

We have a full complement of policies and procedures covering all aspects of our work, including Public liability insurance, Employer liability insurance, Child Protection Policy, Health and Safety, Quality Assurance, Equal Opportunities, Confidentiality and Data protection policies. Sound Gallery has been inspected by the Devon County Council under the Devon Education Business Partnership Work Experience scheme. Due to the significant time demands work experience can place on a small staff team and a not for profit organisation such as ours, we have found it necessary to charge a small fee of £40 per participant per day in order to cover our administration and participant supervision and training costs.

2. Access to SiMPTI
Access to SiMPTI is a programme is designed to provide music-making activities for young people aged 14-25 who are considered to be 'at risk of social exclusion' with an aim to build up their social skills and increase their creativity. This programme aims to engage fragile groups and individuals who live in challenging circumstances in the form of masterclasses, seminars and recording studio experiences under the guidance of music professionals within a safe working environment at Sound Gallery Studios. Access to SiMPTI is suitable for:
Young people from Pupil Referral Units
Young people who are NEET (not in education, employment or training)
Young people with learning difficulties and physical disabilities
Young people with mental health issues
Young people in care or young carers
Young people living in rural areas and are at risk of being rurally isolated
Young people excluded from school
Young people living in poverty and young people who are homeless

Increase young people’s self-esteem and participation in the digital arts, foster a sense of achievement and self-worth

Enable young people to learn new transferable skills in a safe environment, discover new talent and nurture creativity

Experiment and innovate using cutting edge music technology

Provide the highest quality musical experience for young people

Provide interactive learning experiences, working alongside high quality professionals, using digital music technology

Immerse individuals into real life experiences and enrich their lives

Provide networking opportunities and useful contacts in the music industry as well as information and advice needed to pursue a career in the music industry

Celebrate success and showcase young people’s achievements

Access to SiMPTI aims to engage and inspire young people by opening doors into the real world so that they can experience and experiment with innovative music technology in order to create their own music. There is also an option for volunteering within this programme. Partners & Supporters
Access to SiMPTI has been supported by Daisi (in association with Youth Music), the Exeter Board Community Fund, The Hele's Education Trust and The Gibbons Family Trust. We are currently looking to create partnerships with rurally located schools/colleges and businesses and funders to help us deliver this unique programme. Cost & Membership Scheme
Dates arranged as required. Most sessions for this programme operate on and 1:1 basis as we have found this to be the most effective way of engaging fragile young people. This scheme provides an opportunity for participants to spend time working on the techniques they have learnt and to develop their projects.

3. CPD: Professional development (suitable for tutors/providers)

This programme offers the unique opportunity to gain first-hand experience in a professional recording studio and to learn directly from sound engineers, producers and music technology tutors at Sound Gallery Studios. The programme is suitable for music tutors, freelance sound engineers and producers who wish to get practical experience in a recording studio and want to keep up-to-date with all the latest technological advancements and industry developments in music technology and the music industry, as well as music graduates, aspiring producers and self-taught sound engineers, who are looking to enter the world of work. Dates: Arranged as required - 1:1 sessions or small groups of 2-5 participants
