Happy Bike Week! 🚲
As part of our ongoing Travel Plan initiatives, we recently held our annual Ada House Dr Bike session, giving colleagues from AWP and WWA access to free bike safety checks and maintenance advice from a qualified mechanic.
From worn brake pads to tyre pressure checks, the session helped ensure bikes were safe and ready for the road.
By supporting cycling and other active travel options, we're continuing to promote healthier commuting habits while reducing the environmental impact of everyday journeys.
A big thank you to Ride On - Cycling For all, an Exeter-based charity and social enterprise, for another great session 🤩

We recently spent the afternoon at Escot House, Devon for a series of team building activities led by Paul Mattin from Wilderness Solutions.
Despite the temperamental weather, everyone got fully involved in a range of challenges, from blindfolded obstacle courses to building catapults that launch water balloons!
We ended the day by evaluating what works well and identifying opportunities for growth in our teams (along with a delicious BBQ🍖🍴)

It is Mental Health Awareness Week, and this week the team took part in some activities to support positive wellbeing:
🌿Pick Your Plant Monday – every team member chose a desk plant to look after
💚Wear it Green – supporting the Mental Health Foundation
🚶Lunchtime Nature Walk – with one simple rule: no phones allowed (except for our group photo!)
We chose these activities around what we believe are three important ways to support good mental health:
1. Be physically active
2. Get closer to nature
3. Manage technology use
A recent study shown that in 2025 one in five workers took time off sick due to poor mental health. It is so important to create a safe workplace where people feel comfortable having open conversations around wellbeing. At AWP, we’re committed to building positive team culture through regular wellbeing initiatives, the support of our in-office Mental Health First Aiders and access to confidential support services such as 24/7 counselling.
💚💚

The team wore their favourite football shirts in support of the Cancer Research UK Bobby Moore Fund: Football Shirt Friday ⚽🫶
Bobby was a footballer who captained West Ham and led the England men’s senior team to their first and only World Cup victory in 1966. He was only 51 years old when he passed away. Shortly after his death in 1993, Bobby’s widow Stephanie Moore OBE set up the Bobby Moore Fund to raise money for pioneering bowel cancer research. Since the fund was set up , bowel cancer mortality rates have fallen by over 30%. However, with 48 people losing their life to the disease every day in the UK, we still have a long way to go. If you would like to show your support and make a donation, please do so here: https://fundraise.cancerresearchuk.org/page/awp-exeter-llp-1

Each quarter, a team at AWP gets to choose which charities the company will be donating to and raising money for. This quarter, Team Transport decided on the following:
St Petrock's (Exeter) Ltd is an Exeter based charity that support people who are experiencing homelessness and rough sleeping. People are increasingly becoming homeless due to the rising cost of living and are unable to cover the cost of homes. St Petrock’s offer prepared meals, facilities with showers, clothing, survival equipment and mental health clinics.
Forest Holme Hospice Charity supports people in the community that are affected by life-limiting illness. NHS funding can only cover so much which is why they need to raise £1 million each year to offer the highest level of care possible. Forest Holme Hospice charity has been committed to funding additional nursing staff for their ward, counsellors to provide psychological support to patients and family, therapies and medical equipment.
Campaign Against Living Miserably - CALM provides life-saving services and practical mental health support to anyone who needs it. Their website has guides, how-tos, tools, a CALMzone app and a helpline available. 1 in 4 people will have suicidal thoughts at some point in their lives, CALM charity will give help to anyone struggling with life and provide everyone with the skills to help prevent su***de.
Maddy’s Mark mission is to give girls and women the opportunity to access rugby and all the physical and mental benefits that the sport can offer. Maddy tragically passed away in March 2022 at the age of 20, following a rugby injury while playing for her university team. Her family wanted to carry on her legacy through Maddy’s Mark charity – supporting mental health and funding access for girls and women in rugby.
Team Transport additionally hosted an office bake sale, which raised an extra £120 on top of AWP’s contribution. Everyone at AWP got involved – baking, donating and especially enjoying all of the sweet treats! 🍰💌
