Last week, our travel advisors Katy and Eve walked our newest Alpine trip. We're very excited to introduce the L**hweg, a 7 stage hike following the river L**h from it's source in the Austrian Alps to the historic German town of Füssen.

Here's what Katy and Eve had to say about their trip:

Katy: 'From clear blue waters and rugged alpine peaks, to picturesque valleys and unbelievable hospitality, the L**hweg is the perfect alpine trip. It fits neatly into a week of hiking, following the river L**h through the Austrian alps. We stayed in relaxing spa hotels and guesthouses, and got to see a different Austrian village each night! It's so fun spotting the iconic painted 'L' symbols during the hike, and we were able to meet some amazing fellow hikers throughout our trip. I would recommend the L**hweg to anyone looking for a relaxing hiking experience, packed with culture and stunning scenery.'

Eve: 'The L**hweg is a stunning 7-stage hike through the Austrian Alps. It felt so complete and well thought out. I felt like I got lost in the magic of the hills, while staying on well-kept and well-signposted paths the whole way. The choice of excellent accommodation and the opportunity for small but excellent detours makes it the perfect trip for me. Having done the Adlerweg as well this summer, I would recommend the L**hweg to clients who want the experience of hiking in Austria without the huts and the huge ascents. As another plus, because the transport along the whole valley is so amazing, there is also so much flexibility in the stage lengths you want to complete'

New for 2027, we now offer the full Jura Crest Trail from Dieldsorf to Nyon.

Wander through charming villages and walk over rolling hills across two weeks, staying in comfortable hotels each night. This trip is over easy terrain with gentle climbs and descents, but covering long distances each day. The perfect trip for people wanting a relaxed trip but with long days out in the hills.

The Walker's Haute Route takes you through some of the finest scenery in the Alps on a demanding yet rewarding trail that passes snow-capped mountains, alpine lakes, glaciers, forests and much more!

We walked the eastern half of the route from Arolla to Zermatt and were constantly blown away by the scenery. Highlights included staying at Cabane de Moiry (right next to the glacier!), crossing the Charles Kuonen suspension bridge and the final part of the trail walking into Zermatt with views of the Matterhorn.

In August our staff member Ben walked some of our Walker's Haute Route. Here's what he had to say about his trip:

"We stayed in a nice mixture of accommodations - characterful auberges, comfortable hotels and mountain huts in amazing locations. We found that having this mixture of accommodations created a really well-rounded experience and the people we met along the way were really friendly and welcoming too! We loved the atmosphere at the huts, in particular!

"This trip is certainly not our easiest and the days often include a lot of ascent and descent with very rocky terrain in places, so while I wouldn't necessarily recommend it to first-time trekkers in the Alps, I would highly recommend it to anyone with some previous trekking experience looking to explore the rugged and gorgeous scenery of the Alps further!

Want to hike the TMB, but not sure if you want to stay in mountain huts? Alpine Exploratory offers three accommodation styles to choose from.

Our 'comfy' trip comes off route on 5 nights to avoid the more basic accommodation on route. You are guaranteed private rooms each night, and skip staying in any huts.

Our 'classic' trip stays on route every night, staying in a variety of comfortable hotels, auberges, and mountain huts. We always book the smallest room available at the huts, so you avoid the more crowded dormitory accommodation.

Out 'hutty' trip stays on route each night in shared rooms, except for private rooms in Chamonix and Courmayeur.
