Braid Vets are committed to continue to provide a high-quality health service to all our patients and clients, and are constantly measuring the practice performance against the very best in the U.K. There has been a veterinary practice at 171 Mayfield Road in Edinburgh, Scotland, since 1967.
A female tortoiseshell cat was handed in to our Mayfield Hospital over the weekend. Unfortunately the cat is not microchipped.
She was found in the Portobello area.
If you believe this could be your cat, please call the practice on 0131 667 2478
Poor Monty wanted to pop in and say hi but we were closed! 💔
Being able to give your animals a positive experience at the vets is so important to us. It means so much to us when we hear that dogs drag their owners into to see us. We know the gravy bones definitely help! 🫶😋

Heatstroke cases are all too common, and many dogs get heatstroke when exercised during high temperatures. 🌡️
Prevent heatstroke by getting to know when it's safe to take your dog outside, and please contact us immediately if you think your dog might have heatstroke!
🚨 28 °C and over - This is dangerous for all dogs, especially puppies and flat faced, large or obese dogs.
🔴 24-27°C - Be very careful, as most dogs will struggle in these temperatures, particularly larger, obese, flat-faced or very young dogs.
✋ 20-23°C - Heatstroke is still a risk at these temperatures for some dogs so take precautions, ensure hydrated and go steady
🟠 16-19°C - It's usually safe to take your dog out, but take extra care if you've got a large, obese or flat-faced dog.
✔️ 12-15°C – It’s safe to exercise your dog!
Heatstroke can be preventable. No dog will die from not going a walk, but may from going a walk in extreme heat.
If you think your animal is suffering from heatstroke, do not wait. Seek veterinary care immediately.
Throughout this month we'll be sharing advice on how to keep your dog cool this summer.

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED 🐾
We are looking for two well behaved, relaxed dogs for an abdominal ultrasound. They will receive lots of cuddles and treats and will go away with a Braids goody bag!
The ultrasound would take place on Wednesday 27th May between 10am - 3:30pm at our Dalkeith practice. Your dog's stomach would be shaved and we would require them to lie on their side for 30 minutes (lots of yummy treats will be provided!)
If interested please contact our Mayfield Branch on 0131 667 2478 📞

Everyone meet, Rambo 🩵
He is a very well behaved 5 month old Rottweiler with the fluffiest ears! He visited us last week for his 2nd vaccinations with our lovely nurse, Kelsea.
For puppies, it's so important for them to have positive experiences at the vets early on. Rambo was the best boy and was very happy to smile for the camera! 🐾

She has provided love, care and cuddles for four decades to not only our clients, but also the whole team here at Braids.
A massive thank you to Kate!
