“With a forest fire of oomph, showmanship, and presence the 4-piece quickly carved their niche through an eager yet well-crafted song list.” Metal Mole Review

Hi everyone, sorry for being so quiet these days. As some of you are aware we had a pretty bad hack on our Instagram account which has been a real pain to sort. Hopefully that's the page back to normal now, but unfortunately there's bit of sad news.
Dave and Magnus have both made the decision to step away from Blackfyre Rising. This is a very bitter pill to swallow, we've shared a lot together and it's been a joy sharing the stage with these guys. There's no bad feelings towards the guys, this is just what can happen unfortunately.
As you can imagine this means that the future of the band is very uncertain, with it just being myself left. The decision to carry on and try to reform the band, or maybe move on is not an easy one to make. Of course I will keep you all updated with what is going on and what will happen next.
Just wanted to keep you all in the loop with what's going on.
Hopefully see you all soon.
Tom

Hi everyone. Unfortunately some absolute waste of blood and organs managed to hack into our Instagram account yesterday and proceeded to sent blatantly scammy messages to some of you, before completely taking away my access to the account, and now it seems the account has completely gone.
Please know that any messages received were absolutely NOT from us!
No idea if this can be resolved or not but will try.
Tom
Guys our Instagram has been hacked and is sending dodgy messages, we're trying to recover but please don't send anything!!!

IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT
It's with heavy hearts that we have to announce that James has decided to step away from the band. While a difficult choice, everything is amicable and we are still mates. It's just the best choice for the band at this stage.
See a statement from James below 👇
"Hi everyone, it’s James here. After much careful thought over the past wee while, I’ve decided to permanently step back from Blackfyre Rising. I know you’re probably thinking that we must have had a big fallout or have split over “creative differences” while I move to pursue a solo musical and/or modelling career. Not at all (well, we’ll see about the modelling career…!) We’re all still mates and parting on good terms. Change comes to us all and we all agree that me stepping back, while bittersweet, is the right decision.
It’s been an absolute privilege to have been involved with Blackfyre for the past 8 years (yikes, we might be getting old!). We’ve had a lot of fun writing tunes and playing gigs together, with plenty laughs and the usual musician frustrations along the way. I’ll always look back on our time together fondly. Some highlights include:
- Climbing the ranks to the final of Metal 2 The Masses 2024, then playing Orkney Rock Festival in quick succession.
- Being promoted as New Hail Fire Rising. Greyfriars Riding. Blackrise Firing. You get the idea.
- My curse by the gear gods whereby my equipment would never work properly. Not once. Not ever.
- Customary rounds of Sheepdog whisky shots at every opportunity.
- Our final gig in the current lineup at SOS Festival last month. We didn’t know it then but it was a great final send-off.
Going forward, the guys will be continuing the good work while looking for a new singer and guitarist. I wish them all the very best of success and will absolutely be cheering them on from the sidelines."
Obviously this is a big thing for the band, and it's going to take time for us to come back as a full line up, so all we ask of our awesome fans is that you are patient with us and keep listening to our music until we're back on stage again!
Onto the next chapter!

Dudes Being Dudes: Review of Blackfyre Rising EP George Marsden reviews the latest EP from Edinburgh hard-rock four piece ‘Blackfyre Rising’
25/07/2025
"Next up we have Edinburgh’s Blackfyre Rising who are the find of the weekend for me. Their cheery, energetic hard rock is infectious and they quickly win over the crowd with the groove-laden I’m Alright and foot-stompin’ Sacrifice. Guitarist Dave Taylor rocks hard, aided and abetted by vocalist James Brown on rhythm while bassist Magnus Tait is a ball of energy who seems to spend as much time roving through the crowd as he does on stage, while Tom Parker holds it all together at the back with a rock-solid beat. Collectively they are having a whale of a time as were the audience who really took to their riffy, hook-laden take on modern hard rock. Highly recommended!"
