Can you support our toy train appeal?

In memory of York guide Gemma who was fanatical about trains and their tour was based on the city's railway connections, we're collecting!

πŸš‚ New or nearly new toy trains

πŸš‚ Drop off or post to Priory Street Centre - 15 Priory Street, York YO1 6ET

πŸš‚ These will be shared with local children’s charities and toy
libraries

πŸš‚ We're taking donations until the end of July

Thank you for your support!

Last week we celebrated the retirement of Vicki one of our fantastic Invisible Cities tour guides in York.
Vicki delighted tour visitors in the city with words like:

"Vicki was a brilliantly engaging guide to parts of York you wouldn’t know were there!"

"Vicki is a brilliant tour guide and her enthusiasm for history is infectious"

We feel very lucky that Vicki became a guide with us and welcomed to many visitors to York, showing them parts of the city that often go undiscovered.

Not been on a tour? You can find all of our cities on our website and we'd love to welcome you.

Our road trip continues this week as we host community celebrations for our 10th birthday - will you be joining us along the way?

We head this week to Manchester and finish in our mystery city in September.

It's been a massive amount of work to get to the stage that we can launch in our 10th city as part of our birthday and it comes with a huge thank you to everyone who has been a part of our adventures so far.

Not been on a tour? Follow our story and come on a tour in one of our cities.

Did you know - all of our guides have overcome challenges like homelessness and gone on to retrain as employed walking tour guides.

So not only are you coming for an amazing experience, you're helping people to rebuild their futures too.

We love creating bespoke tours for events - so if we can work with you too, get in touch!

You can find the link to get your hands on a ticket or a table in our profile - and remember that it's going to be a fantastic evening with 3 course meal and entertainment as well as speakers and prizes.

It's Seriously Social Week and today is all about Social Inclusion.

Across Invisible Cities we have an incredible team of people including guides, volunteers and support staff from all backgrounds, cultures and communities.

We have guides like Silvana from Argentina, Larysa from Ukraine, Gowri from Malaysia.

In Scotland, Sonny and Angie delight visitors from around the world with their strong regional accents!

Our founder Zakia is French and having lived for many years in Scotland has an incredible hybrid dialect!

Our teams include Michaela who is from Czech Republic, Nadira who is Algerian and has lived in Scotland for 30+ years! As well as people from all corners of the UK!

It makes us quite unique as a tour company and we feel lucky to have such diversity in our organisation - it also makes us really aware of social inclusion from a language perspective across all communication from training and workshops to phone calls and in person conversations.

p.s. Did you know that we're a social enterprise? That's why we're taking part this week. It means that all of our profits are reinvested into recruiting, supporting and training walking tour guides across the UK, as well as working on community and social impact initiatives in our cities.
Come on a tour, we'd love to welcome you.

It's Seriously Social Week and today is all about Employment & Skills.

Creating opportunities is a key part of what we do at Invisible Cities.

That might be welcoming new trainees to workshops, 1-1s and visits to other tours and experiences in our cities.

It might be hosting a workshop or social alongside other partners or charitable organisations.

And it might be welcoming a partner to deliver a training session like money management or customer service skills.

Our new trainees can develop skills in storytelling, confidence building, customer service, communication and public speaking, all while learning more about their city and the role of a walking tour guide.

Our training programme is designed for people who have experienced homelessness or social hardship, helping them build confidence, gain new skills and move towards paid employment as tour guides.

p.s. Did you know that as a social enterprise, when you come on a tour, our profits are reinvested into schemes just like these.

It's Seriously Social Week!
And community is at the heart of everything we do.

This summer, our Meet Me in Govan walking group in Glasgow celebrates four years of bringing people together through free weekly walks across Govan, Ibrox and Partick.

Since 2022, an incredible 1,271 people have joined our walks.
Some came for a walk, some came to meet new people, and some came to learn more about their local area. Together, they have created friendships, connections and a welcoming community that continues to grow.

Thank you to everyone who has walked with us, supported us and helped make Meet Me in Govan what it is today.

Not been on a tour in this city, or fancy a trip to Glasgow? You can find all of our tours on our website.
