Edinburgh Summer Festival Season has arrived! πŸŽ‰

Announcing full programme, a new multisensory installation, inviting audiences to experience and interact with AI through physical movement.

We are delighted to announce this year’s summer festival exhibition featuring a new and expanded presentation of Morphological Murmurations this August, hosted Inspace Design Informatics and forming this year’s Edinburgh College of Art highlight for the 2026 Edinburgh Art Festival and Edinburgh Festival Fringe.

This immersive installation invites audiences to engage kinaesthetically with embodied communication, neuriodiversity, artificial intelligence (AI) and models of animal behaviour. Placing visitors within the space of a Large Language Model, an AI system designed to analyse and generate human language, the work surrounds the viewer in a flock of artificial agents, responding to movement through visual and sonic word activation.

Inspired by the synchronised, shape-shifting characteristics of starling murmuration and other flocking behaviours, this installation explores alternative models of how embodied minds create meaning.

Morphological Murmurations is led by , in collaboration with Stephanie Lamprea Stephanie Lamprea, with the opening event featuring short performances by Koterwas and Lamprea.

Check out the full programme and save the date (25th of Aug) to discover how artists are creatively and critically engaging with artificial intelligence (AI), specifically Large Language Models, through voice, movement and audio-visual technology.

Final weekend of Right to Roam πŸ“’

It has been an inspiring exhibiton run and we are excited if not a little bit sad to announce this is the last weekend to catch Right to Roam before it closes on Sunday.

Pop along between 10:00-17:00 today and tomorrow to immerse yourself in the sounds and visuals of the Firth of Forth through the story told by .sumlacs, her team of collaborators and the communities she’s worked with.

This exhibition is a culmination of over a year of research and practice development around ideas of systems of movement, thinking of rivers as a living body, and data collection. It’s a sister show to Calmus’ Stockholm show in 2024.

Right to Roam exhibition programme open today and continuing until the 24th May.

Led by artist Sarah Calmus .sumlacs, is an expansive enquiry into freedom of movement through the lens of the river Forth using multi-sensory installation, moving image and print, launching in Inspace next week.

This exhibition features Sea Wall, a seven screen projected moving image work reacting to SEPA (The Scottish Environment Protection Agency) data collected from the River Forth from Alloa buoy, asking us to stop, look and listen.

Soft sculptures made from recycled materials with screen printed fabrics, make visible and tactile both macro and micro habitats of our shorelines and seabeds.

A careful selection of films capturing and witnessing water not only from the Forth, but from bodies of water spanning the UK and Sweden invite us to connect and pay attention to the never ending connection of water.

Come along to see Right to Roam and immerse yourself in the Forth Wall multi sensory installation, to feel the river Forth through sound, vibrations, moving image, tactile sculpture and print and join Calmus in asking where does one drop begin and one body end?

The exhibition is open Wed-Sun between 10:00-17:00.
Come along to bathe in visuals and sounds of the Firth of Forth and check out the event programme below.

We are delighted to announce the full programme of Right to Roam, by artist Sarah Calmus .sumlacs, an expansive enquiry into freedom of movement through the lens of the river Forth using multi-sensory installation, moving image and print, launching in Inspace next week.

Centered on the Firth of Forth, Scotland’s major estuary where the River Forth meets the North Sea, Right to Roam uses historical and live data from the River Forth, to influence the sound and visuals of the work and features elements of a disused water monitoring station. Here, creative exploration of environmental data using hydrophone recordings, short films and site specific installations ask us to consider what we can learn about ourselves, our waterways and local ecologies through employing deep listening.

Following a seven-screen projected moving image piece, Uisge, featured on this February, we are delighted to share details of the full programme of extended immersive installation taking place this month.

Please join us in Inspace for the preview next Thursday from 6pm and there are plenty of opportunities to catch the exhibition and other events happening across May, details below, so we look forward to seeing you there.

We’re delighted this afternoon to welcome to for a guided tour of current exhibition Between Glass and Magnetic Fields.

This is the final week of this exhibition which is open daily 10:00-17:00 the rest of this week including Saturday and Sunday. So if you are in Edinburgh do drop by to view and experience Gregory’s intriguing journey merging MRI technology with Glass Art.

Between Glass and Magnetic Fields, translates the intangible dynamics of magnetic resonance imaging, an imaging method that produces radiation-free, three-dimensional representations of the body, into the medium of glass. By merging the sensory and investigative capacities of art with scientific rigor and programming, Alliss expands the aesthetic potential of contemporary glass art. His works integrate contaminated waste materials with the tools and logic of MRI sequence development to explore the intersections of visibility, matter, and image formation.

We hope to see you there!
