POINT 8: Investing in Carbon Capture, Usage and Storage.
The way to fight or revert climate change is through carbon storage. The UK is planned to be in the front of a green revolution and therefore plan to develop Carbon Capture, Usage & Storage (CCUS)… a new industry to capture carbon emitted daily.
“Our ambition is to capture 10Mt of carbon dioxide a year by 2030, the equivalent of four million cars’ worth of annual emissions.”
A big investment will be made to support the development and establishment of CCUS in 4 different places ‘Super Places’ in North East, the Humber, North West, Scotland and Wales.

POINT 7: Greener Buildings
A WIN-WIN SCENARIO
Putting UK homes, workplaces, schools, and hospitals at the heart of our green economic recovery.
“Making our buildings more energy-efficient and moving away from fossil fuel boilers will help make people’s homes warm and comfortable, whilst keeping bills low.”

POINT 6: Jet Zero and Green Ships
In their latest Global Trade Outlook (https://lnkd.in/eERUubfb) The Department for International Trade (DIT) states that Global trade will quadruple in dollar terms to reach $100tn by 2050 (UK’s share of global trade will remain stable @ ~ 4%).
What to do to have a sustainable and green supply chain for a Green Industrial Revolution becomes a question now in the Ten Point Plan. The UK is planned to be “…at the forefront of aviation and maritime technology to push forward low carbon travel and build on UK strengths”.
Drive the uptake of sustainable aviation fuels; invest in R&D t develop zero-emission aircraft and develop the necessary infrastructure for green ships and planes; are the main objective of Point 6 in the Ten Point plan.

POINT 5: Green Public Transport, Cycling and Walking
In line with Point 4, the 5th point of the plan relies on decarbonizing public vehicles and “…increasing the share of journeys taken by public transport, cycling and walking”.
Sustainable transport structure to propel the use of electric vehicles zero-emission buses, rails and cycles are the backbones of the plan. “This will improve the air we breathe and increase both mental and physical health, as well as reduce emissions.”

POINT 4: Accelerating the Shift to Zero Emission Vehicles
"...we are taking decisive action to end the sale of new petrol and diesel cars and vans by 2030, with all vehicles being required to have a significant zero-emissions capability (e.g. plug-in and full hybrids) from 2030 and be 100% zero emissions from 2035"
With private investment of over £3bn, the UK is planning to have 100% zero emission vehicles circulating by 2035.
In our opinion, this is the spearhead of a Green Industrial Revolution considering the impact of driving an EV has had in the last few years and the rapid development of the technology.

We sincerely hope your business can be part of this plan and if it does, do not hesitate coming to the UK and participate in it.

POINT 3: Delivering New and Advanced Nuclear Power
"[UK is]... pursuing large-scale nuclear, whilst also looking to the future of nuclear power in the UK through further investment in Small Modular Reactors and Advanced Modular Reactors."
The third point in the plan will allow to power 2 million homes with clean energy and with each GW produced from nuclear power.

POINT 2: Driving the Growth of Low Carbon Hydrogen
Using Hydrogen as a clean source of fuel, heat, and transport!!!
"Working with industry the UK is aiming for 5GW of low carbon hydrogen production capacity by 2030".
The UK is already a world leader in investigating the use of hydrogen to replace fossil fuels as a source of energy.
Capturing carbon in ‘Super Places’ makes low carbon hydrogen at scale a possibility. This is key to Net Zero Goals.

POINT 1: Advancing Offshore Wind
Using the power of wind to deliver greener outputs!!!
"Offshore wind is a critical source of renewable energy for our growing economy, with the UK already leading the world".
That's in essence the first of the Ten Point Plan of the UK for a Green Industrial Revolution.
The UK is set to quadruple its current offshore wind capacity by 2030 and generate 40GW of offshore wind which represents more power than all UK homes use today.

As it was two centuries ago, Britain is now set to lead the world into a new Green Industrial Revolution by investing in clean technologies - wind, carbon capture, hydrogen etc.
To Net Zero, and lay the foundations for a Green Industrial Revolution, a Ten Point Plan was released in 2020. “The plan brings together ambitious policies…” and “…will mobilise £12 billion of government investment, and potentially three times as much from the private sector, to create and support up to 250,000 green jobs”.
Today's post is only a summary of all the ten points. During the next 10 working days we'll be posting more detailed information regarding the deliverables for each plan/point.
Hopefully, your business fits into this plan, and you can join as a private investment. Let us know your thoughts.

Grupo Santander monitors business sentiment towards growth, risk, and international trade with the TRADE BAROMETER report.
One of the main findings shared during the last report (Spring 2021) show that the majority of businesses understand that international trade is important moving forward for future growth.
Moreover, as stated by John Carroll during a Global Trade Review (GTR) virtual event "...the SMEs that trade internationally grow faster than those who don't”.
