❓Another frequently asked question we get asked by flat owners is… It's unclear how we divide the cost of a repair between the different owners. How do we work this out? 🤔
Figuring out your share of repair costs can be tricky. 😬 Here are the steps to take:
First, check your titles to see if they state how to share repair costs. You can use the property rules and title deeds toolkit on our website for information on how to find them and what to look for.
If your titles are unclear or don’t add up, the default rules in the Tenements (Scotland) Act 2004 should be followed.
If there are disputes over sharing repair costs, it’s advisable to seek advice from a solicitor.

Lets talk about roof maintenance - Scottish weather usually brings rain, so it would be silly not to ensure your roof is in good condition before the seasons change. Some slates/tiles slip or fail and this can cause water ingress. EBM carry out an annual roof condition report so owners are aware of whats going on with the roof - giving the opportunity to carry out repairs before the ingress sets in. Gutters and downpipes are cleared of vegetation to ensure everything is flowing freely.
