Right to repair rules implemented from today.

Right to repair rules will extend lifespan of products, government says Appliances will be cheaper to run, the government says, under plans that will extend the lifespan of household goods.

Troubleshooting for common dishwasher problems.

* Not draining properly or at all
The number-one cause here is a blocked filter or pump, which you should be able to sort out yourself. The pump is often under the filter. You’ll need to take off the cover and wash inside. If this still doesn’t fix it, then check whether the drain hose at the back of the machine is blocked.

* Door seal broken
You’ll know your door seal is broken if your dishwasher is leaking slightly. You can buy a replacement from as little as £10. Get an engineer to give you a quote before making your decision.

* Electrical fault
With electrical faults, we would advise you to get an engineer to give you a quote before making your decision.

'Right to repair' law to come in this summer Manufacturers will be obliged to make spare parts for appliances available to consumers.

We have lots of customers contacting us regarding boilers not working due to their boiler condense pipes being frozen because the freezing conditions. Condense pipe is the white pipe that’s comes out at the bottom of the boiler. If you boil a kettle and let it cool down a bit and carefully pour hot water (not boiling as it could damage the pipes) over the white pipe this should defrost any blockage and get you up running. Doesn’t work all the time but it might get you out of trouble.
