Bookpoint welcomes Venerable Theravada Monk Samak!
Thursday 25th June, 6pm at Bookpoint (£5.00)
Introduction to meditation and Buddhist spirituality.
We are delighted to soon be welcoming Venerable Theravada Monk Samak to Bookpoint, for an enlightening discussion on the spiritual aspects of Buddhist practice, and an introduction to meditation. Theravada Buddhism, ("School of the Elders,") is the oldest surviving Buddhist tradition.
It relies strictly on the Pali Canon and emphasizes self-directed, individual enlightenment. Practitioners seek to become an arahant (a perfected person) to escape the cycle of rebirth by diligently following ethical conduct and meditation - truly something a bit different, tickets available now! fans

Alex Gray - Thursday 18th June, 6.30pm
Tickets £5 or £22 inc. signed book.
Tickets available now in store and online!
Only one week until we welcome celebrated Scottish author Alex Gray to Bookpoint! Alex, born in Glasgow, is the co-founder of the international Scottish crime writing festival, Bloody Scotland, which had its inaugural festival in 2012. "Blood on Old Stones" is the 23rd book in the DSI William Lorimer series, and sees our protagonist return to the Isle of Mull to uncover dark secrets hidden beneath the beautiful and fierce landscape...
"DSI William Lorimer never expected that the next time he’d visit the Isle of Mull – where he and his wife, Maggie, have often wandered its windswept coasts and picturesque lochs – it would be for the funeral of an old friend. Mary Grant’s sudden heart attack was a shock to the small community on the island, but Lorimer has no reason to suspect foul play, until he is approached at the funeral by one of Mary’s closest friends. She is convinced there was more to Mary’s death than meets the eye. And when she, too, dies in a sudden accident, Lorimer finds himself investigating a double murder. Mull is a place of spectacular beauty and characterful towns, but Lorimer knows that even here old secrets can resurface, resentments can run deep, and evil can lurk undetected."
