Join the GreenWave Project today at Baxter Park!

As part of the GreenWave Project, supported by the Scottish Government Public Library Improvement Fund, we’re inviting you to enjoy a fun and meaningful hour in nature.

What’s happening?
Come along for a relaxed session of bird watching and litter picking in beautiful Baxter Park. Our staff will show you how to use the free Merlin Bird App to help identify local birds, while we work together to care for one of our greenspaces.

Where: Baxter Park
When: We aim to run sessions on the 3rd Saturday of every month
Duration: 1 hour

Booking information:
Spaces are limited (due to the number of litter pickers available), so please book ahead.
If you have your own litter picker, you are welcome to come along and meet us there.

🎨 Volunteer Opportunity: Creative Activities Volunteer 🎨

Are you creative and enjoy sharing skills with others? We’re looking for friendly, enthusiastic volunteers to support our weekly crafting sessions in Coldside library.

✨ About the role:
You’ll help create a welcoming, inspiring space where adults can explore creativity, learn new skills, and build confidence.

🖌️ Activities could include:
Knitting, Painting, drawing, 3D printing, sculpture, modelling, papercraft, sewing, card making, photography, and more!

🛠️ What you’ll be doing:
• Supporting weekly creative sessions
• Welcoming and encouraging participants
• Helping plan and design activities alongside staff
• Setting up and tidying the space and materials
• Keeping a register of attendance
• Assisting with displaying finished artwork
• Taking photos of work to celebrate achievements and promote sessions

• Friendly, approachable, and supportive
• Passionate about creativity and learning
• Willing to share skills and encourage others
• Reliable and able to commit regularly

🐝 Bee a Citizen Scientist – BeeCome a Bumblebee Spotter 🐝

Join us in collaboration with the Greenwave Project, supported by the Scottish Government Public Library Improvement Fund and the Bumblebee Conservation Trust, for the second of eight engaging family events all about bumblebees.

Event 2:
Beginners Bee Walk at Baxter Park Pavilion
Saturday 20th June at 11AM

Put your new skills into practice on our Countryside Ranger led guided Bumblebee BeeWalk. Help spot and identify bumblebees in the wild and take part in real citizen science!

🌿 Volunteer Opportunity: Activities Volunteers - Nature & Conservation 🌿

Are you passionate about nature, conservation, and community learning? We’re looking for volunteers to help support biodiversity projects and citizen science activities in our libraries and local green spaces.

💡 About the role:
Volunteers play a key role in supporting community engagement with biodiversity, citizen science, and environmental learning. You’ll help bridge the gap left by the absence of a biological records centre in Dundee by supporting data collection, public participation, and knowledge sharing.
Through your involvement, libraries become active hubs for environmental learning — helping people connect with nature, build skills, and contribute to conservation.

🌱 What you’ll be doing:
🔬 Citizen Science Support
• Assist with biodiversity surveys in library gardens and local green spaces
• Support participants using identification guides, recording apps, and sampling tools
• Help record, organise, and manage ecological data
• Encourage public involvement in citizen science projects
• Help connect library users with specialist organisations

🎨 Workshop & Event Support
• Assist staff and facilitators during workshops and outreach activities
• Set up and pack away equipment and resources
• Support participants in creative and scientific activities
• Help create a welcoming and inclusive environment
• Gather feedback to help improve future sessions

✅ We’re looking for volunteers who are:
• Enthusiastic about nature and environmental issues
