HOLIDAY WARNING

It's that time of year once again for download festival to roll around 😎😎

We will be closed from the 9th of June and back open on 16th June.

We have limited spaces left before I head off and any messages received while I'm away will be answered once I'm back.

Well this week has been quite something.

Our shower unit finally decided it needs fixed as it's sinking and then our shower quit on us.

We have continued to bath the smaller dogs in our Belfast sink in the back. all our wonderful trades man will work miracles over the weekend while we are closed so we can reopen as usual on Tuesday.

Thank you to everyone that's swapped this week. Annie was miffed as to why she was in the sink and not her usual bath 🤣🤣

🌸 SWANNIE PONDS UPDATE: We are thrilled to share that Sarah’s clutch has hatched! She is sitting beautifully with her new cygnets on the Clepington Road island.

🦢 Regarding Sid: he was last seen a few days ago at the Stannergate in good physical health, eating and flying. He hasn't returned to the pond just yet.

🛑 How you can help: Please keep all dogs strictly on leads around the ponds. Do NOT throw bread or floating food near the island—this attracts predatory gulls which are a major danger to the new cygnets. Our volunteer guardians are on site managing Sarah & the Cygnets safely whilst Sid is away.

At this time of year, we start to notice lots of posts circulating social media regarding rapeseed; these posts are shared extensively and can understandably worry many dog owners. The posts usually state that rapeseed is highly poisonous to dogs, and can cause signs including haemolytic anaemia, blindness, damaged nervous system, digestive disorders and breathing problems.

The signs mentioned are typically only seen in grazing animals, and most dogs actually remain asymptomatic after exposure to rapeseed. Dogs can develop gastrointestinal upset if they have ingested some of the plant, and there have been reports of skin reactions which resemble burns, but this is extremely rare and does not happen to every dog which comes into contact with it.
