Walking alongside disadvantaged communities. Taking Action Against Poverty.

Photos from Signpost International's post 17/06/2026

Delighted to have welcomed the First Minister John Swinney and Lara Bird (SNP Candidate for Arbroath and Broughty Ferry) to our centre this afternoon exploring what we can do as Global Citizens to better support our neighbour, wherever they may be. Incredibly important conversations to be having, particularly in this current climate, as they say, “we’re a’ Jock Tamson’s bairns”.

First Minister John Swinney commented, "It was fantastic to visit The Roundhouse and see first-hand the fantastic work they do to support the community in Dundee. The ambition of the team at Signpost International, both for their work internationally and for members of their community, is inspiring. Whether it's Scotland's young people, our natural environment or those most in need of help, The Roundhouse is doing vital work to ensure Scotland thrives. It was a privilege to meet the team who make such ambition a reality, and I wish them every success for the future."

Thanks to the First Minister and his team, Lara Bird, Alex Mitchell for the images, Claire Grainger, and the team at Signpost.

We're delighted to see our wonderful volunteer Ann featured in The Courier's Local Hero section!

After a career in teaching, Ann now brings her time, energy, and compassion to The Roundhouse Community Kitchen, helping transform surplus food into nutritious meals for people across Dundee.

From the classroom to the community kitchen, Ann is making a real difference — reducing food waste, supporting local people, and showing the incredible impact volunteers can have.

Thank you, Ann, for all that you do. 💙

Inspired by Ann's story? We're always looking for volunteers to join our team. Whether you're interested in helping in the kitchen, garden, office, or with practical projects, we'd love to hear from you.

🚶‍♀️ Join the Roundhouse Rescuers for the Kiltwalk 2026 🚶‍♂️

This August, every mile can make a real difference.

For every mile walked, The Roundhouse Community Kitchen will produce 10 meals — transforming surplus food that would otherwise go to waste into nutritious meals for people in our community.

By taking part, you’ll be helping us rescue food, reduce waste, and support local families across Dundee.

Whether you want to:
👟 Join as an individual
👥 Create a team with friends, colleagues, or your church
🏢 Take part as a business or organisation

…you can help turn Miles for Meals.

You don’t need to be based in Dundee to take part — simply choose the Kiltwalk event nearest to you:
📍 Dundee
📍 Edinburgh
📍 Glasgow

We are a Dundee-based community development organisation. Established in 1992 we became a SCIO in 2021. We support people globally (including in Scotland) to be the drivers of their own change and so work toward realising our vision of "An equitable world where poverty & injustice are eliminated, people thrive, & communities flourish".

From supporting rural communities in East Africa to access safe water to tackling food insecurity here in Scotland we keep people at the centre of all that we do, aiming for long-term change rather than quick-fix solutions. We are at an exciting point as we seek to significantly expand programmes locally while growing the capacity of our partners overseas towards a truly sustainable future.

We’re recruiting new Trustees | Signpost International (SCIO)

Are you interested in using your skills to help shape the future of a charity working to tackle poverty and injustice at home and abroad? Signpost International is looking for new Trustees to join our Board.

We’re particularly keen to hear from people with experience in:

• Business / commercial (growth, partnerships, operations, HR, change)
• Finance (budgeting, forecasting, controls, audit, charity finance) – Treasurer-ready experience welcome
• Programmes (international development, programme design & delivery, monitoring & evaluation, safeguarding, impact)
• Strategy (strategic planning, performance frameworks, organisational development)
• Governance (board effectiveness, policy, compliance including OSCR)
Time commitment: 4 Board meetings per year, plus joining at least one subcommittee and reading papers in advance (reasonable additional time for occasional ad-hoc meetings).

As a Trustee you will help set our strategic direction, ensure strong governance and compliance, oversee financial sustainability and risk, and support/constructively challenge the CEO and leadership team.

Trustee roles are voluntary and unpaid but fully supported through induction and ongoing guidance. Prior trustee experience is welcome but not essential. We welcome applications from people currently under-represented on charity boards.

Interested? Send a short statement (max 1 page) outlining your interest and relevant experience, plus a CV/LinkedIn profile, to [email protected] by Monday 1st June 2026 or reach out for an informal chat before submission. www.signpost-international.org

Hunger is a daily reality for many communities in rural Uganda, with 4 in 10 people unable to meet their nutritional and caloric needs.

At , we believe this is a reality that no man, woman, or child should have to endure.

By setting up farming groups, cooperatives, and school gardens, we aim to not only eradicate hunger, but also create healthier communities with improved access to good nutrition.

Support our work to take action against food insecurity in Uganda. 💚

He is risen! ✨

Today we celebrate hope, new life, and the promise that darkness does not have the final word.

Resurrection Sunday reminds us that transformation is possible — that from what seems empty or broken, something new can grow.

This hope is at the heart of everything we do — from sharing meals and building community here in Dundee, to supporting sustainable change with our partners around the world.

We pray that this Easter brings you peace, joy, and renewed hope.

Happy Easter from all of us.
