A day which started as it went on. Stage 1 we had issues with the brakes, then stage 2 was really good apart from being stopped behind a rally2 who stalled for about 20 seconds! Then the car developed a misfire which was sorted after stage 3.

We then were out to make up time and on a really hard push on stage 4, until i just carried far too much speed into a blind corner, ended up on the grass and picking up a puncture. Pulled over to change it dropping 8 and a half minutes.

Some positives to take from the day though, 13th quickest overall on stage 3, and stage wins in the class on 4/5 of the stages. So it was really a day of what could've been, but lots learned and more seat time gained!

Rally week 🫡

This weekend we are at Kinloss for round 2 of the STRC 🙌

Seeded at car 26 out of 90, and seeded first in class 👌

Really looking forward to building on my performance at knockhill, much faster and more open stages this time out! I won my first rally there, so hoping for a good run again this time 🤞

2026 Scottish Tarmac Rally Championship challenge ⚔️

After a fantastic 1st round taking 1st in class in the points at Knockhill, we currently are joint leaders of the overall STRC championship 🫡

This year is a massive setup for me and the team, both with the car, and the financial step up too! We are all committed into this being the next best step for me while keeping the cost down, but as always moving up is never cheap 🙃

Knockhill ✅💪

A day of building pace and confidence today, really improved after the lunch break!

Finished 3rd in a very competitive class 7, had a really close battle at the end with David MacIntyre in his C2. 15th overall and 9th quickest overall on stage 9! I'm over the moon with my pace this afternoon. Feeling really confident within the car now 🫡

For the 3rd year running the J1000 Ecosse Challenge has teamed up with the Asset Alliance Group Scottish Rally Championship to offer 1 graduating competitor the chance to win a financial contribution from the SRC towards their 1st season of senior competition.

5 drivers put their names forward to be assessed at Monklands Sporting Car Club’s excellent hillclimb venue at Forrestburn, near Shotts:

- Challenge Champion Ollie Forrester
- Regular podium contender Alfie Letham
- Hard charger & talented autotester Connor Pitcaithly
- One of 2025’s most improved competitors Angus Henderson
- Up and coming Welsh driver Kyle Green

The hopefuls were assessed on their driving abilities by 3 very qualified judges:

- SRC and BRC Junior Champion Robert Proudlock
- Former Ecosse J1000 Champion and standout Opel Adam pilot Oliver Phillips
- Top navigator, rally organiser and international eRally competitor Richard Crozier

After showing what they could do behind the wheel, they headed indoors for in-depth interviews, covering all aspects of rallying from fitness to self promotion. Asking the questions were another 3 big names:

- 7 time Scottish and former British Rally Champion David Bogie
- Former J1000 chairman and 2 time Scottish Group N Champion Andy Kelly
- Asset Alliance Group PR guru Graeme Cleland

With all 5 drivers really impressing both inside and outside the car, deliberations between all the judges were quite lengthy before a consensus was reached and a winner decided upon.

It was a nervy wait for the 5 hopefuls as Rhona Dickie and Barry Young from the J1000 Challenge committee took to the stage at the SRC Awards Evening and revealed the winner to be:

2025 J1000 Challenge Champion Ollie Forrester!

Ollie impressed not only with his undoubted pace behind the wheel but also his ability to use his head and play a championship game when needed. Couple that with a very strong mind for the sport off the stages and he was deemed the ideal recipient of this award.

With a Citroen C2 already purchased it won’t be long until we see Ollie battling amongst the senior ranks. Everyone at both the J1000 Ecosse Challenge and the SRC is excited to see how this young charger gets on.
