They say never meet your idols. On August 29th, I get to play alongside five of mine.
After nearly forty years behind the decks, I've been fortunate enough to share line-ups with some incredible people — from Carl Cox to Tiësto, as well as many of the talented local DJs I was lucky enough to help break onto the scene.
When I look back, I do so with immense pride. From the early days at the Point Inn, through Fusion, the legendary nights in Squires when Maiden Heaven ruled the roost, the Friday nights in the Venue, the Pure Genius events, the Homegrown parties, and the days spent flipping tunes over the counter in Perfect Beat and Homegrown Records. Music has given me a lifetime of memories and friendships that I will always treasure.
I know these Point reunion nights are becoming fewer and farther between as we all drift into our so-called sensible years. But you're a long time dead, and life is for living, regardless of age or social standing.
Music has always dominated my life. DJing simply became a way to share that passion with others — a passion that still burns today .
So on August 29th, I'll be dusting off the vinyl and taking another trip back to the glory days of the Point at The Cosh. I hope some of the people who crossed my path, shared a dancefloor, a laugh, a friendship, or simply a few unforgettable moments along the way, can find the time to do it all again.
For one night, let's turn back the clock.
