Today, we said goodbye to a villager who was one of our biggest supporters and who shaped our lives — and our menu — forever.

He’d arrive in a colourful shirt, order a glass of Sauvignon Blanc, and without fail choose the smoked haddock with mash, a poached egg, and mustard sauce. It became a staple on our menu because of him. We will always laugh at his determination to keep haddock on there, while secretly wanting to try something new himself!

As we looked through the photos his family asked us to display — more than 200 in total — one thing was clear: family, laughter, and a wonderful wife were the recipe for a bloody good life. (Along with a bottle of wine, fairly shared out, of course.)

Thank you for being part of our story. Thank you for watching Jack and I grow our business and our family, for celebrating our wedding with us, and for meeting our little Aura.

Most of all, thank you for choosing us to be part of your story. We were honoured to host your celebration today, with mini smoked haddock dishes being shared among family and friends — a fitting tribute.

Rest in peace. 🤍 You will be greatly missed, but fondly remembered every time that haddock is ordered.
