Second training session down, two more to go! 💪

It was great to welcome the Orton Escalators team back to Lester Controls for the second of four dedicated escalator training sessions led by Jamie Proud.

The day covered a wide range of topics from:

🔹 Understanding drawings and electrical circuits
🔹 Fault finding and diagnostics
🔹 Controller wiring, installation and setup
🔹 Key monitoring features across our escalator control systems
🔹 How remote monitoring can support engineers in the field

A big thank you to those who attended and contributed throughout the day. We look forward to the next session! ⭐️

Training in full swing 🛠️

A brilliant day spent with the Thyssen Krupp Escalator team during their training visit, led by our very own escalator champ, Jamie Proud.

The session gave everyone the opportunity to explore our escalator control systems in more detail, discuss applications and share technical knowledge and experience across the teams.

One topic that generated a lot of interest was the remote connectivity functionality, which continues to prove a valuable asset for remote support and fault finding across the industry.

Days like this are a great reminder of the value of collaboration and continuous learning within the lift and escalator industry.

Thanks to everyone who joined us! 💪

What a brilliant day supporting the Lift Industry Mental Health Charter. 💙

Under the sunshine, the Lester team had a great time putting our football skills to the test alongside others from across the industry.. AND somehow even managed to bring home the League 3 trophy! 🏆

But beyond the football, it was great to see so many companies coming together to support such an important cause and help continue conversations around mental health within our industry.

A huge thank you to the organisers, volunteers, supporters and everyone who took part.

And of course… up the Lesters. 😉

✔️ Escalators in Training Mode: Hosting the Network Rail Team at HQ ⚡

The momentum at Lester HQ continues to grow! This week, we shifted focus from lifts to high-capacity infrastructure, welcoming the Stannah Network Rail department for an intensive "Power Mode" training session.

When you’re responsible for the vertical transportation at Gatwick Airport and other major transit hubs, the stakes are incredibly high. These aren't just escalators.. they are mission-critical assets that keep the UK moving. 🇬🇧

It’s one thing to see these systems in a busy terminal, but getting hands-on at our HQ allows for the technical "deep-dive" that builds real field confidence. 🛠️

A huge thanks to the Stannah team for the sharp questions and the commitment to engineering excellence. We’re proud to support the teams that keep our infrastructure ascending.

💪 24 Years with Lester 🌟

A huge congratulations to Brendan, our R&D Director, on reaching this milestone.

If you’ve worked with Brendan, you’ll know the level of thought, detail and persistence he brings. A lot of what we build today has his fingerprints on it – alongside a strong team around him that’s been pushing ideas forward year after year.

Together, they’ve helped drive real innovation across the business.. from everyday improvements to developments that have even led to patented technology.

It’s the kind of contribution that builds up over time and makes a real difference.

Thanks for everything you’ve brought to Lester, Brendan, and here’s to many more.

More engineering champions in the building 💫

Another great training session – this time with the Otis team at our Croydon facility.

We’ve been running more and more of these sessions recently and it’s been great to see the demand growing. 👀

There’s something different about getting everyone in the room, hands-on with the equipment, sharing experiences and learning from each other. That’s where real confidence is built.

Thanks again to the team for bringing the energy – looking forward to the next one! 💪

🏃🏻The Countdown is on!! ⚡️

With just a couple of days to go, Darren is deep into training for the 2026 London Marathon, running in support of Blind Veterans UK.

Every mile he’s putting in helps raise awareness and funds for a charity that supports blind and vision-impaired veterans to rebuild independence and confidence after service.
There’s still time to support Darren and help him reach his fundraising goal.

Every donation, big or small, makes a real difference.

Let’s keep the momentum going and help Darren get closer to that finish line.

Trainings in in full swing at HQ 💪

Great to have the team from Murray Lift Group with us for a hands-on session 👏

Always valuable to step away from site and spend time building deeper understanding.. not just of the systems but of the thinking behind them. From controller setup to practical fault finding, sessions like these are all about giving engineers the confidence to work faster, smarter and more independently in the field.

We really appreciate the engagement from the team – plenty of good questions and a strong focus on getting the details right.

Looking forward to continuing the partnership!
