The inspiration for this piece are the everyday rituals that we can all relate to, our common thread framed in an ordinary moment. This expression of the personal, a self portrait drinking my daily coffee at the kitchen table. Regardless of culture or race this is a shared experience throughout the world of coffee drinkers! For me it goes further still, it’s a self examination of my creative process. An expression of a moment of quiet reflection, thoughts explored or just simply being present that I find some of my best and most interesting ideas. There are no stylistic acrobatics in this piece, its raw and real, pen and ink my modes of creative expression. We are all looking, wondering and exploring in the everyday and at its heart it is simply a celebration of the everyday.

Posted @withrepost β€’ @coffeeatlarge A brief introduction:

We are a group of baristas who have staged a walkout today in response to missing paychecks, dishonest and absent communication from upper management, empty promises regarding promotions and compensation reviews, and a hostile work environment.
β€’
We have chosen to leave in this manner because we no longer feel comfortable in our workplace.
We don't do this just for ourselves. We know this is all too common in the coffee industry. We want to join with others to help change coffee here in Seattle and beyond.
β€’
There are so many pertinent issues in coffee, and we’re going to try our best to change some of the narrative. From sourcing, to service standards, it’s an intersectional issue. β€’
We hope to use this page as a hub to tell coffee stories and work toward solutions. If the stories we post over the next few days feel familiar, reach out with your own. We'd love to share them and work with you towards a better coffee industry for us all.
