Complementary Birth - About Us Complementary Birth, based in East Cheshire, offers you everything from preconception fertility preparation, antenatal and postnatal classes, services include hypnobirthing, aromatherapy, massage and moxibustion.

The course is accredited by FEDANT and the RCM. It will allow midwives to practice aromatherapy during pregnancy privately (with appropriate insurance in place), and within the NHS setting (under local guidelines).

Services include; parent education classes, hypnobirthing, hypnotherapy, professional training courses, and complementary therapies including aromatherapy, massage and moxibustion.

Whether you are experiencing issues with fertility, suffering from morning sickness or other common pregnancy problems, or you just need some relaxation, we are here to help.

We offer services that start before you are pregnant. Tailor made programmes to prepare couples for conception and pregnancy can be delivered in group session, or privately in your own home. Our preconception programme to increase fertility includes a variety of services to improve health and well being prior to conception, and also for couples who are undergoing assisted reproduction techniques to maximise the chances of success.

During pregnancy, we offer a range of services to maximise health and wellbeing, and to prepare you and your birth partner for labour, birth and parenthood. Services include hypnotherapy to promote a healthy pregnancy (for example to help you or your partner to stop smoking), pregnancy aromatherapy and massage, complementary therapies, hypnobirthing, and tailor made parent education programmes that can be delivered in groups or privately in your own home. For Health Professionals
Complementary Birth provides an extensive educational programme for health professionals from CPD days to certified training courses. Current courses include antenatal education teacher training, birth companion workshops, and formal birth companion (Doula) training programmes. We can also develop Health Professional training packages to meet individual requirements.

We also believe that each woman should be treated as an individual, which is why we offer tailor made packages to meet individual needs.

Complementary birth acknowledges the importance of antenatal preparation and education in order to adequately prepare you for labour, birth and becoming a parent.

Courses start as early as prior to conception. These classes will help to promote optimal health and wellbeing in order to increase your chances of becoming pregnant. Other classes throughout your pregnancy will enable you to maintain a healthy pregnancy, and give you information in order to assist you making choices and decisions about your labour and birth preferences. Our dedicated Parent Education programme focuses on labour and birth, and how to maximise the chances of having a normal, unassisted, positive birth experience. Courses include practical elements including teaching massage techniques, and other ways to help you manage your labour and birth. You can undertake classes as part of a group workshop, or privately in your own home. It is up to you.

Birth Partners
Supporting your partner in labour is one of the most important roles that you will play in life. Being a birth partner involves more than a physical presence. At a Complementary Birth education class you will learn how to support your partner both psychologically and physically. Our courses are designed to give you the knowledge to work as an advocate for your partner. In addition you will learn how to support your partner by utilising methods such as massage and deep relaxation methods.

You will also learn how to cope with the transition to parenthood and how to enjoy this precious time as a family. Please see our active Birth partner workshop and preparing for parenthood workshop.
